If you have Depression, PTSD, Aspergers, Autism or any other mental disorders as such perhaps you should get a dog (or any other animal). A service dog can help a lot but could be hard to get. Going to the pound and finding a dog that directly connects with you could work too.
I served two combat tours and came back to an empty apartment. Came back and my brother killed himself. That piled on to an already big problem. Just spent a lot of time self destructing even though I had a job. A coworker talked me into meeting a pup that had a hard life too and was looking at getting put down.
I met the pup, he needed to come home with me. Two shit lives had to make something better. We both had to adjust, he tore up his kennel and even part of my entryway wall. It took a few weeks but we bonded.
He and I make our lives so much better. I give him a home/bed, food and someone that cares for him. He gives me his everything. He consoles me when I get in my own head, he always show that he'll stay by my side, attacks me with his love if i'm deep in depression or sick.
Long ass post, but it's something to consider. Their will of course be a bunch of trolls, but If this could help even one person then I'll call it a win.
