So, I understand how the airplane stays up in the air in both models, and I understand how a satellite stays in orbit in the model on the left, but what makes it stay in orbit in the model on the right? Because we have satellites that don't move relative to the surface of the earth, but are tens of thousands of miles up. If they aren't really going around a ball-shaped planet, what's keeping them up?
