Excessive force doesn't work nearly as well as media and perception management, just as Russia about that. They turned an American election on it's head. Excessive force was used in Afghanistan and though the US might have "won" it took a severe beating militarily, economically and culturally. The US completely changed and all of the respect our grandfather's had earned during WW1 and WW2 was squandered with "shock and awe" and the false premise.
