If someone's fucked up in the head enough to draw and spend most their day on Yea Forums, they're probably not the most levelheaded people to throw money at. Artists that visit other boards like /aco/, Yea Forums, /d/, or wherever else are much more the way to do if you're hellbent on commissioning someone on this site. But most importantly when selecting an artist, always check to see if they have a long history of commissions because you don't want to end up commissioning someone and getting screwed out of your money.

Usually just wait and see. Bookmark their page, and check back after awhile to see if they're successfully doing commissions on a steady basis. Commissioning people who don't have a lot of commission experience or a large gallery is risky because you're not sure what you're going to get in terms of quality, time, and reliability. It's a roll of the dice. Too many people get burned going the cheap, new artist route or those without a good history.
