Actually, during the last stages of World War 2, the Germans invested heavily in early computers. One aspect of this was early video games that were used to train their soldiers. This research was stolen by the Allies, and the German findings suppressed, the same way as they stole rocket technology from von Braun etc. The picture is from 1944 and shows Hitler playing an early version of a 2 bit console (codenamed "Fotzeblaster") produced by Porsche. At this time, only one game was available, "Juden ausrotten", a lighthearted and humorous text-based RPG in which the player must ensure the smooth running of a death camp in occupied Poland.
