Wow
Is is from M87, when will the piccy of our black hole come?
cool an orange blob
Communal black hole
>this is Yea Forums but ...
dehumanizing us
What is it?
A phenomenon
a phenomenomenomenon *
This is a black hole
Thank you NASA, very cool
its ugly, better then nothing i guess
Does anyone else want a krispy kreme?
what a useless image
why should anybody but ultra science nerds care
That didn't take long...
what a useless person
why should anybody but his mom care
its diameter is the size of the heliosphere and its mass is 6500 million times the sun's, what a time to be alive
Your mom is the size of much more than any heliosphere I've ever seen
the average citizen gonna forget this black hole cus it won't put food on the table or pay for their gas
wow a black hole i can see far more entertaining ones on ebony sites.
They released the first picture of aliens too.
so? we don't determine importance by how many average people care about something. average people don't know shit.
MAMA MIA
Regardless of your knowledge of black holes, wether you understanding them or not. You gotta understand that this right here is the center of our(?) Galaxy. This is the center of our home. This what theorized for many years, backed by many science, we now have a picture.
I understand absolutely fucking nothing about space, but even me can appreciate how crazy this is. People were expecting something more HD which is understandable, but this picture will help us maybe get one soon.
this is not from our galaxy, they will be working on that next as well as improving the methods
this is from Messier 87
The project cost $50 million to $60 million, with $26 million of that coming from the National Science Foundation. The telescope data was gathered by the Event Horizon Telescope two years ago, but it took so long to complete the image because it was a massive undertaking, involving about 200 scientists, supercomputers and hundreds of terabytes of data delivered worldwide by plane.
I love you guiiiise
Kek
funny how flying around harddrives is still faster than internet for these amounts of data
then youre at the wrong place. this black hole can't give me a boner like can
more details
>supergiant elliptical galaxy
So does that mean it's the center of many homes?
it's from another galaxy called m87, it was easier to observe than our own galactic center
we have a pretty clear view of m87, while the milky way's center is obstructed by tens of lightyears of nebulae, stars etc, there is just a lot more shit in the way you have to look past
just means it's a galaxy in the form of an ellipse, and it's really fucking huge
The amount of genuine unappreciation this picture is getting makes me sad.. I shouldn't even be giving a fuck, but still.
ikr, this is a gigantic moment for astronomy
it also yet again confirms einstein's theories, it's pretty incredible just how right the guy was, and how incompatible with it the other really right thing (quantum mechanics) is
the only people who pretend they understand the implications and future realizations of such a discovery are reddit-tier fedora wearers.
the process is also really great, combining telescopes from all around the globe just shows what we are capable of if we cooperate, take notes politics
so this is a site for average people now huh? Is that how you think of yourself?
that's because its photoshop bullshit, anyone could make this in 5 minutes and yet these frauds get billions in funding
they did not get billions, and how many fucking people would need to cover this up and not leak anything for this supposed scam to work? far too many.
hey, you don't have to care about anything beyond your immediate surroundings, though you might want to. the world is way bigger and more exciting than you could tell by only looking out for your food & gas
NASA's budget for fiscal year (FY) 2019 is $21.5 billion.[3]
Why does everyone need to know to successfully cover it up? There is no single individual at NASA that is aware of everything that is going on within the company at any given time. Literally all that needs to happen is for a small group of boffins to send a picture out to the press. NASA is notorious for blatant photoshopping as well as "enhancing" pictures they release and at this point have no credibility to anyone who isn't willfully ignorant.
largely average. you think people who are actually working to advance society or raise awareness, like elon musk or Michio Kaku are browsing here ..
It wasn't NASA that took the image though..
thats OPs buthole after Im done with it
except this wasn't nasa but tons of astronomy institues from unis around the world
imagine being this ignorant but this certain of your knowledge
let's be honest bro, the image of this black hole isn't any different if anything it's far more boring than what we've seen in movies, so spare me.
until this black hole brings about the answer to the meaning of life / our origins then i'm gonna forget this news tomorrow. we need quantum computers, actual things useful to the average person, hard AI and hyper-real VR that will simulate lolis dancing on my lap.
Don't know why OP posted the low res image, but here you guys go.
Astronomers all work together due to the equipment involved. You're an idiot if you think every university has its own space telescope up there. The fact remains that the entire industry is as dodgy as it gets. None of the pictures of space you have ever seen are what you could call true or accurate. It is all a lie.
confirming relativity yet again is the groundwork needed for the theories that will create your loli heaven
Hi res
>Fake
not a lie directly, more like making the truth more pretty
most pics made are not from visible light, including this one, so astronomers "convert" the different wavelengths of radio into perceivable colors
WOAH a picture that can easily be faked!
...
55 million light years away doesn't sound too far considering it's supposedly a super massive black hole, we in trouble?
Do you understand how this image was even taken? That tech isn't ready for us just yet user. VR is also a gimmick. AIs are nothing but overrated slaves. You understand nothing.. Our origins? I thought that was already covered.
>You understand nothing.. Our origins?
if you've said to an astro-physicist in response to this image, they'd laugh at you
the reddit fedora wearers have arrived
nah, the entire milky way is 100k light years across, we'll be fine
these distances are absolutely ridiculous
the one you should be worried about is andromeda, the nearest galaxy, and with that supermassive BH, and even that thing will only reach us when the sun literally dies of old age in about the same timespan as earth has existed
>You're an idiot if you think every university has its own space telescope up there.
>up there.
They turned (bigger than) Earth it's self into one single telescope.. and what exactly are you talking about "the equipment involved"? Based on that, I believe your saying NASA is the one that sells them these equipments that all have been modified to lie by and for them.
or maybe 'existence' not origins
Thank you based user. Now that is something I can do my teeth into. IDK why op thinks it knows so much
I wasn't the one that said "origins" now was I.
i meant existence, never moind.
the official website of the program, if someone wants to read more about it:
>eventhorizontelescope.org
It's brighter on one side because of the doppler shift. The black hole rotates in one direction, which drags light onto one side of the hole.
Cheers, fascinating stuff.
I wouldn't really put it past them honestly
astronomy is one of the most amazing things out there, read up on it, watch documentaries and youtube vids
NOW!
BOOOORING
man, i'd love to fuck that
Never change Yea Forums
I like this one better.
self-aware hard AI is not overrated, we could be limited by biology but AI is different. Elon Musk knows this.
I personally couldn't care less about VR but you can't say it isn't interesting, even if it isn't actually real. You could simulate being thrown in to a black hole on VR and i'm sure you'd take that statement back. .
that pic would sadly never happen, as the lights from the city would make it impossible to see the rather dim milky way
looks great though, famalan
>hey guys, we spent £40m to get a photo of a black hole
Wow, what does it look like?
>a black hole
Lol Americans. They love to microwave shitty food to stuff their fat fucking faces with but can't link them to the science that came out decades before the invention and then wonder why anyone should care about anything that isn't a sports ball game, a truck or some stupid fucking song on their radio.
Fucking retards.
too bad its 2019 and were all excited about fortnite and social media instead lmaoo loser nobody cares wheres my vape and vbux
not if you take it during the day when the city lights aren't on, newfag
That image is retarded for one, makes no sense.. And yes, these self aware AIs you speak off will never roam the streets at free will like in your imagination user. They will be used for slavery and as weapons. There will be a law to make them self aware any way. Once we start getting really really deep into it, we will start seeing that it'll be dangerous and shouldn't be done.
astronomers hate this trick!
Hey um...excuse me what the fuck? Are we about to be engulfed into a black hole?
hopefully
>there will be a law to NOT* make them self aware.
And by deep I mean deeper than what we already got. Deeper then Google Duplex and what ever the fuck Amazon and Facebook are doing. I remember when Facebook made an AI and pulled the plug on it when it started making its own language. Idk if that was real but the possibility is
This comment will make everyone mad yet not one of them will be able to explain why
>looks more boringer than mah movies
Go watch transformers 7 you fucking nigger. This thread isn't for you.
Why are you posting your own picture? This is supposed to be an anonymous board.
post a picture of yourself
i think you might be of interest given that you are also too dense for light to escape
>visual evidence of something only previously known by theoretical physics
Yes, about as useless as out first image of a virus. That'd didn't advance science at all right?
you fucking brainlet. This is a monumental moment for humanity and you're literally too stupid to understand why. You have no perspective. Go back to jerking off and playing vidya. The world dons't need you.
see
you can do something about a virus
let me know when you can do something about a black hole ten zillion miles away and 3 zillion miles in diameter
that didn't stop people like stephen hawking to continue to dedicate his life to it, it just confirmed what we already knew.
i'll and most people will forget this tomorrow.

Question; do black holes look like this from every angle?
>most people
having fun being most people user. Fucking commoner
please don't smoke in orbit, the particles would get even more everywhere than on earth
satan's eye looking directly into my dirty soul
nope, this is specifically the angle from which we can see this particular hole, the bright ring is the so called accretion disk, formed by matter falling into it
it forms a disk because most galaxies are more or less flat (compared to their width and length), so all matter orbits the holes along that disk anyways. the magnetic fields the hole exerts also push matter into a disk form near it
i have various phases where i try to get deep in to this stuff when i have nothing else better to do, but the only real people who will be making true strives and exploiting these discoveries aren't us. We can observe, your taxes will be going to it anyway whether you like it or not. So don't rip on people if they don't wanna observe like it's a career.
that pic is comfy as shit, but the internet must be terrible this far out
Thank you kind user. Obvious now you tell it to me so eloquently.
ps. I'm not a simpleton, just getting too old to think about shit properly.
no worries mate
more people should know about and appreciate astronomy, the further i can spread the word the better ^^
first of all, this is Yea Forums, not Yea Forums
>...
faggot
It is made with real butter and fresh cream.
Kind of redundant isn't it?
Kneel Dagrass Mike Tyson, is that you?
Goddamn it, you beautiful son of a bitch.
not everyone trying to communicate science is a nigger
what are you even getting at, i don't know much about the guy, is he that bad?
Actually the gravity of black holes are the only way for us to survive the longest. Suns burn out within billions, black holes lose energy in trillions and longer. Building a planetosphere or dyson sphere in its gravity makes it possible to survive us the longest based on current understanding of science. And they did just exist on paper but that image makes it all possible
It's a blurry pic of an old basement lightbulb through a filter.
Buh muh science says its realz
It's called justifying funding for another year.
FAKE AND GAY
>clouds in space
good luck surviving on the trickles of power that are emmited from them via hawking radiation, basically nothing for biological life
if mind uploading were a thing, it's possible, without that, no fucking way
>via hawking radiation
Hawkin radiation is very strange (not really). It becomes less the bigger the event horizon is. And even the gravitational forces are less the bigger it becomes
A very interesting vid on the energy stored in black holes and how to harvest it:
youtube.com
Currently only the solar LHC would be able to collect more energy
actually I prefer this virus photo. Black holes were obvious anyway. Disappointed as fuck.
the long lasting black holes will emit basically nothing for most of their time, so after we sucked out all the rotational energy of the black hole we have a long long time of basically no energy to speak of, if whatever lifeform exists in that far future will need to use that hawking rad
when you say gravitational forces, you mean tidal forces, or the difference in grav force between to points of a body, which is actually responsible for the decline in hawking rad in bigger black holes, according to the virtual particle model
impossible
>holes will emit basically nothing for most of their time
no, they emit even more. As I said, they are weird. Small black holes emit much more within small space, but bigger ones have much more energy. You just have to travel much more space and those survive a longer time. That image basically showed us that we could save until the end of matter itself
Retard alert ! Retard alert !
>You just have to travel much more space and those survive a longer time.
And that makes everything you shoot into the hole so much more enrgetic.
Also not end of matter, but end of all matter we could create energy off. First the dyson sphere, then black holes and then maybe the LHC that destroys spacetime itself
by the time we would need black holes energy we will achieve everything and every person that ever lived will be able to live all their desired lives in virtual reality. There will be too many people in existential crisis in new era, they would rather watch how it all comes to an end, to finally see it.
question, what do you mean by LHC? not large hadron collider i assume?
>now you're too afraid to look
>too scared to miss it
>we're night and day
>solar eclipses
Hawking published a paper on a better lhc simillar to harvesting vacuum energy (which currently is pretty much magic). He warned about it, because based on his calculations it basically rips space and time with the speed of light of tested. I don't have to post, how that testing would be our death without time existing.
>large hadron collider
and yes, it was a collider
iflscience.com
similar to the theory of vaccum decay, and somehow collecting the energy released by that?
this still goes over my head largely, will need until i am in uni for that lol
GenZ : the post
can someone post link?
>new gen bad, old gen good!
~every generation of humans since the dawn of homo erectus
look at
As said, it becomes pretty strange if you get into theoretical physics. And the OP image is a first victory, because people often said black holes are illogical
Hard AI?
And not directly, the Idea is to create a new chain reaction to create a universe within ours, so a little new big bang. Probleme is, we can't contain it and risk complete destruction of the milky way
that is gods mouth. it sucks everything in. not even the truth can come out.
only the milky way because of the light speed limit and space expanding faster than that at some distance?
god is a fucking fag and his asshole is a vaccum cleaner
And the world keeps spinning, yeah, I know that. But user specifically mentioned social media, vbucks etc...
The more connected we are, the less aware of our surroundings we become. Stacking ourselves in overly lit cities hasn't helped either.
this is from dark souls isnt it...
Based on our understanding of the expanse it would be our local network. So the milky way, andromeda and some little shitty other galaxy.
That again makes the future sad. Future generations will not know that there are more galaxies than the three known. They will just see black
probably the one giant galaxy fused from our three, even
as far as i know not even the CMB will be visible at some point, so we won't even know there ever was a big bang
this reminds me
since we did these buggers in class i alway thought there was no way evolution chiseled out something this wierd. it has to be alien made.
Pics is a piece of shit, as scientifically significant it may be it's a piece of shit.
There's an awful lot of thins we'll never see and we can do without .Pic related, that is inspiring, aestethically pleasing and really makes one wonder.
Spacefags are too deep in their circlejerk to admit it's a blurry piece of shit, they must pretend it's beautiful and awe inspiring.
if you just look at the picture itself, yes, it's a blurry blob of orange
if you think about that this represents scientists from all over the world cooperating to prove a mathematical theory from some german a century ago which is still being proven right again and again, it's pretty fucking great
not to bash artist's impressions or colorized photos of nebulae, they look great of course
Who cares? Everyone acts like this os the first confirmation of a black hole.....
because it is the first unambiguous one?
New picture!
ur dum and gai
BASED AND REDPILLED
It's great but also it's ugly af.
There's spacefags going around pushing it as beautiful, saying they'll tattoo it on their thin arms.
Can they dnap a pic of the Lunar modules using the same telescopes?
Beautiful post, I love you
Terrible post, please kill yourself
the blurryiest and most expensive goatse
Do you actually know that in that picture, you are seeing the black hole from all sides? Multiple times?
question for sciencefags
how do we know this isnt a planet partly eclipsing some other star?
no
elborate
...
that's cringe and bluepilled of course, but ya can't denie the significance of it
still better than some generic rose, crow or heart tatoo, tbh famalan
Photons orbit the black hole and get expelled back to us, including the ones on the back.
youtube.com
Check on the 4 minute mark
a planet would not totally obscure it's star like that, ever
this is in the center of another galaxy(m87, about 50 million ly if i'm not mistaken), where we theorized for a long ass time (since einstein) should be a collapsed star so dense it has an event horizon, which then grew to billions of solar masses by devouring all the shit around it
now, we finally took a snapshot, and it only took tens of millions of dollars and 2 years of work to create
the first one the coloured in due to use of different wavelenghts
good argument, tell me more CERN guy
All that effort and taxpayer money for a blurry image of a black circle. Amazing.
flat earthers going wild with memes
Easy to generate with Photoshop.
The journey is more important than the result. The fact that taking this image was possible in the first place is a strong support for many theories about black holes.
all that taxpayer money and effort to confirm one of the last bits of general relativity still in question
as some other user said, without researching the fundamentals like this we would've never gotten computers, microwaves or even cars, not to mention the space programs and the new fancy quantum computing shit
More exciting than going for NEET niggers
u liek men?
What’s the point? How does this help us?
there is something homosexual i find about this thread
Doesn’t make the pic more impressive. It’s just a circle.
Just barely
Hope it destroys earth.
refer to
I still don’t see why this is impressive. The research itself, ok, fine. This pic is pretty meaningless though.
exactly what i said
the pic is boring but the actual data is astounding
Ok so why is everyone going on about the damn pic like it’s amazing. It’s not.
not you apparently, but that's ok.
most of them mean the science behind it, which the picture represents
just like the grav waves from LIGO a few years back got caracterized with the sounds you could make out of the wave pattern, this discovery gets represented by the funni glowy donut
because this is the first time we were able to take a pic, that's it.
nice
You people are easily entertained.
Whoop de fuckin do
Shots fired
Worked for 911
>actually believing this
Actually it's the other way m87 much more distant than the black hole of the milky-way. But m87 is a fuckin lot brighter cause it got 1500 times the mass of the black hole in the center of the milky-way
Meaning of life is entropy you fucking nigger. But I'm sure you won't understand.
take your antidepressants
The average person didn't invent the Personal Computer.
The average person didn't invent cars.
The average person didn't invent the internet.
The average person didn't put a man on the moon.
The average person didn't discover penicillin.
The average person didn't develop vaccination.
The average person didn't invent the printing press.
The average person didn't harness electricity.
The average person will instead live a boring uneventful life and contribute very little to human progression while extraordinary people will achieve things of importance the average person cannot even fathom and will be immortalised in history.
In other words the people that will benefit from this 1000s of years from now when humanity conquers space don't give a fuck about whether some mouth-breathing redneck from the 21st century was able to feed the living garbage bin they call their family.
AI that control physical forms
>implying this fucking hard
Name one thing you've ever predicted from a field you know nothing of.
>The average person didn't invent black holes.
pipe down there or your little science experiments won't get our taxes you fedora wearing faggot
The average person didn't develop the theories behind them or invent the equipment to take a picture of one and prove those theories dumdum.
a goatse?
>he says on his computer that was invented by research funded by his taxes.
Yeah good luck with that.
meant to reply to
This is Yea Forums but every human needs to see this. Be grateful. Every person in existence that came before you never laid eyes on this phenomenon

>but
dude it looks like an eye
IT LOOKS LIKE A FUCKING EYE MY BRAIN CANT HANDLE THIS
well not its star but another star
>which drags light onto one side of the hole
You're fucking autistic.
I gave you the ultimate red pill, you Ingrate brainlet. Too busy shitposting about lollis faggot
This is a waste of time.
red pill? yeah, nah .. none of that shit actually matters, you'll be long dead before the heat death of the universe. now go take your antidepressants.
>not understanding the scale of astronomical distances
kys
No of course not, the moon niggers stole them.
>god does exist because we cant proof different
>black holes exist because we now finally have a picture of one
you may see the difference
not a main sequence one, an endstate which then collected loads of matter and grew real big
What a waste of resources really. I mean we have african kids starving and this photo probably cost billions to make. Shame on you. Nobody cares for a srupid miles away black star or whatever. WE HAVE SRARVING HUMANS ON THIS PLANET. DO SOMETHING JEEZ IM ASHAMED
and how does that help us as humanity?
>prove a mathematical theory from some german a century ago
You don't know much do you? Go find out who created the concept of black holes. It predates your dude by like over a hundred years.
It doesn't.
its the first one that has ever been visualized. before this it was just math and gravitational lensing
because science has never helped solve human problems before
And the expelled radiation images..
How did the research on tnt in the 17th century help us, how did the research on atoms in the 19th century help us, how did the research on computer in the 20th century help us, how did the research on jet engines in the 20th century help us?
Thinking something that doesn't have direct intrinsic value is useless is stupid. Science has several ideas to use black holes.
the specific kind of black hole this confirmed was the one by Schwarzschild he theorized via einstein's equations
ok so after watching that video, i think you misunderstood / oddly simplified it a bit, but i get the jist now, thanks :3
And how should we reach one? Still stupid
>a picture of what we already knew existed is going to have any impact
You're a special kind of stupid.
yeah, computers were a huge upgrade to civilization to tether everywhere, and the effects were immediate. this goatse isn't, maybe it will be long term but we've already been working on it despite the image.
nothing exponential has been 'discovered' here like the cure to cancer, just a confirmation of what stephen hawking already knew(bless). interstellar is more entertaining.
I am not sure what type of average mediocre fucks you hang out with but, except for penicillin (accident) - all the other stuff on your list was a joint effort of a multiplicity of people, sometimes crossing over several generations of iterating scientific discovery one over another, to reach some sort of tangible result a simpleton like you would consider "invented".
I guess you are probably one of those guys who walks around thinking Steve Jobs was a genius and invented stuff too.
So you are stupid or scientific illiterate. It takes us to visit every planet in our galaxy with our current technology 1000 years. Meaning we can think in a bigger scale
didnt mean the hole, meant the star behind the planet
No, we didn't know if it existed. We knew it was possible and now we have prove that our ideas and math is true
But its 87 lightyears away and has no effect on earth yet. So why should we value a image what costs billions to make? You are murderers. For that money we could give relief to Africa. Think about it brotha my young kids are starving
The implications are pretty simple: The observations agree with what was predicted, according to relativity. In other words, looks like Einstein was right. Again.
See
Maybe not usefull to us, but on the grand scale it is
actually confirming things you suspect to be true is important though
you must be pretty retarded then
>No, we didn't know if it existed.
False, it just provided more evidence of its existence.
not sure what you mean, but the glowy bits on the image is the accretion disk of the black hole
this is what it's all about
do me a solid and show me your smartphone and other gadgets you got and lets see how selfless you are that you would go without what you want, to give others what they need.
I'll wait- I am sure you will deliver
and how does a massive black hole help us?
Dig deeper and this image becomes suspect. Some chick wrote the algorithm that stitched this image together. Instead of advancing our understanding of physics and quantum mechanics, it could prove to be nothing more than an SJW bullshit story that could hold us back from real discover by killing funds into research proved debunked by this "image".
Sorry guys, but the scientific community is now an ego tainted, agenda driven whorehouse of showboats and SJW's while real science and the scientific method is shit canned to move political power pieces on the board.
Take anything "spectacular" that is just an interpretation (like this image) from the scientific community with a hearty grain of salt.
>t. Virgin
It's an image that took many MANY people to all work together to fully capture.
go back to hating women in your basement please.
Does anyone have a wallpaper size version?
For years to come, until it all collapses into a singularity.
It doesn't, and its not a super massive black hole. We have images of showing evidence of black holes already. The method of imaging is a little odd also..
Basically this: an almost infinite source of energy
Currently we are extremely hungry or energy and our only reason to not colonize other planets and make them habitable is the required energy. Just to make mars hospitable for humans would take 200 years of our current energy output.
Also not to mention that those exist much longer than stars so meaning we can make them beacons of life
wow, God looks great.
repent
>general relativity is SJWs in disguise
You think those faggot showboats have fucking anything to do with real science?
Real scientists hate cameras, they don't go running to them. Real scientists have real work to do.
Bullshit. Soundgarden used that as an album cover 25 years ago.
what important projects for saving the west from muh sjws are actually being debunked by a collapsed star in another galaxy, though?
I never said any of these things were invented by one person
but not one of them was a gun-toting redneck from alabama who married his second cousin and is 'just tryna put food on the goddern table'
Yeah you’d think we’d have come up with a solution for that by now
imagine believing that pic of a jack-o-lantern with a blur filter is an actual pic of a """""black hole"""""
most of you don't have to imagine, you're already stupid enough to constantly believe what paid liars tell you
Mars has no athmosphere and magnetosphere, it is not the best planet
so he really is white ...
Actually is, it has no athmosphere due to missing magnetosphere, but we can recreate it with heating its nitrogen, hydrogen and water in its sediment stone (that is what needs the energy) and the created athmosphere would be hospitable for humans for 10k years, enough for us to either exploit the planet or find a permament solution.
Venus is too deadly, saturn is even deadlier and europa needs even more energy
you are the useless one with your shitty grammar , atleast he is redpilled and knows midea is just a lying fag
>Mars has no athmosphere
False. Even the Moon has an atmosphere. KYS.
You're forgetting a critical issue: Time.
From the point of view of the space around that black hole, the universe is still extremely young. At best only a couple of million years have gone by there since the big bang.
Today's daily double answer: Alex, what is time dilation?

Soyboy faggots like you make the most interesting sounds as I kick your ribs into your lungs and liver.
...in a video game, until mothers brings a plate with tasty tendies
>You're forgetting a critical issue: Time.
That is another funny thing about the theory around black holes. You are correct, something falling into the event horizon would become so slow as to see the end of the time and even observe the beginning of the universe.
But the idea of black hole generators is to send in atoms to speed them up close to the speed of light and harness their energy given by the black hole. They don't come close to the point where they leave our spacetime and due to speedup are soon to be leaving it
stop larping
aw damn I thought they used quantum computers for this
>atoms
why did i say that? I meant radiation or light
Planets can't be that big - it's bigger than our entire solar system. Only reason they can even get a pic of it, it's so mind-bogglingly fuckhuge
it looks like a got-damn infra-red cheerio
There are tons of research that goes counter to larger approved theories so long as doubt exists.
Science is far more about finding out what isn't true than big one off discoveries.
It boils down to optionality. Unfortunately, research funding flows to where there is fixation. Fixation destroys optionality and is therefore the modern equivalent of the church shutting down scientific discovery to maintain their control over society.
Many in science have lived to become the enemy they claim to fight.
that's a problem with capitalism though, not science, and even more not women/sjws
what is the true resolution of this image? looks scaled up a bunch
I wish it would suck me in
the thing is 50 * 10^-6 arcseconds across, insanely tiny
Yeah but once the solar winds have huffed and puffed enough it's game over for Mars.
I've read an article (keep in mind that's still scifi for now) about a large magnetic sphere being installed somewhere between Mars and the Sun to protect the atmosphere mankind would recreate on Mars. A magnetic field by proxy if you like.
Still, that doesn't solve the 0.4G issue.
Just binaries is the sauce. You are asking if someone could post the sourcecode of an image instead the image itself
>theory
today it possibly no longer should be called that
>Still, that doesn't solve the 0.4G issue.
you are right, that is the biggest issue, but nasa and esa currently test that with 100s of probands staying in bed for months
The terraforming would not really be a problem, think back 10k years and what we achieved. Those people still could come back
No, the problem is how weak the human brain is outside of throwing rocks to take down meat and competitors then figuring out how to hold a screaming bitch down to breed her.
The systems are just varying shades of better or worse in different fields and circumstances at moving us around.
The shit flinging monkey in the center is and always will be the real issue.
"Theory" has two meanings. In science, a theory is the explanation of a fact.
Eh, Andromeda will collide with us in about 3 billion years, the Sun will live for another 2 billion after that.
no, a scientifical theory is a proof existing on paper but not being prooven correct, like the big bang. I would say, with that image it became scientific evidence, just like electricity
Why didn't we take a pic of the one in our galaxy it's closer.
what i stuck my dick in it? would it suck me off
All Science is Theory. It's built off it.
I wish it would suck me off
that yellow / orange caramel ring isn't as distinct so it wouldn't get as much social media likes or attention which is the aim here.
You are right, it is first theory. But for example in IT and Etech you have suddenly evidence, the ulterior of theory. But as someone working in IT, we also have several unsolved theories like the nnp and the travelling salesman. If you can make them evidence you would become rich enough to never work
>what i stuck my dick in it? would it suck me off
You'd lose your dick and then you'd die
Too much shit too close to us, causes a flaring effect in the detecting. Much like you can better see a guy with a flashlight far away in a smoke cloud than you could see someone in a smoke cloud with you with a flashlight. The distortion of light bouncing off the smoke in the near cloud blinds you.
