To the moderates its mostly about the wall being ineffective and expensive. As you get more extreme to the left its about the belief that everyone has a right to decent life regardless of where a border is drawn. Also nationalism isn't that strong the further away from the right you get.
Yeah, you can come up with a thousand rebuttals to both sides, but this is just how us lefties think.
