Nope, you would need to invest so much manpower in taking the country that you would leave yourself open to counter attack from Canada which, lets face it, likes the UK more than the US.
I can guarantee that large parts of Europe would step in also. The UK is a strategic partner. The US might get behind-the-curtain support from Russia, but there are still alliances with France etc.
Also, think about how you would physically invade? Britain is an island. You would need a lot of ships to transport enough troops to guarantee a take over, and a force of that size won't be a surprise. The UK has submarines.

If the US tried to invade Canada first it would face retaliation from pretty much everyone else in the commonweath, with the support of most other countries that aren't that keen on the US.

To add to that and also to shed better light on the isolation of Canada's north, the most common way to get fuel and supplies from the coast of Alaska to the heart of Alaska is by airplane since building roads on tundra is very difficult.
