When I was a kid I made $7.25/hr and $8.00/hr and after I got out of college I made $14/hr for a while before going from there to $25/hr then to $30/hr then to $45/hr and now. I was basically just getting by until I hit $30/hr, and even at $45/hr I still had to think about money. People that think $15/hr is a lot of money, as someone who made less than that and about that amount while still young with little expenses I can tell you you're straight up broke. If I was an adult trying to support a kid or something I'd be living paycheck to paycheck easily.

Even in areas with low COL (which I spent most of my life in) you're not doing shit with $15/hr other than affording an apartment and being able to eat. That's bare minimum living which is an acceptable minimum wage. People that argue against $15/hr because it's "too much for meaningless work" are most likely poor themselves. That's the reality of it.

I had to leave to a cheaper state unable to justify how much of my pay from job was going directly to renting a mold filled apartment from the 20s located above a restaurant. Minimum for a "professional" job in the US is 455$ a week in the US, a bit over 11$ an hour, I've personally worked a 50 hour a week job as an IT tech for 13$ an hour (but only paid for 40!).

So my union offers the plan. The company i work for pays for the plan. But if i get injuried and have to go to the hospital. Insurance/union cover 45/45 and i cover 10%. The company i work for matches what i pay into my pension. The union has a multiplier on the pension plan as well. If im not mistaken, its like 3%. It's not much, but im only 22, so i'm 150% okay with it.

Also forgot to include. Unions pays for anything eyes 100% (ill get a check from my union) and dental is 100% covered by my union as well
