tell it to shut up

That's what you get for buying cheap shit.
Well if that's an option you may want to invest in noise cancelling headphones.

Can anyone confirm if this works?

Hold on, before you call me a fraud.
This only works if you are not smoking weed.
in that case the sound just continues until it resembles human speech

Just put it in the kitchen. You'll have to leave bed to get a beer, but you won't hear it anymore

Can confirm, does not work. This man is after legitimate help.

my new one was loud so i started shoulder-charging it a bit and that shut it up for a while then it gets loud again and i smack it again

whats the amperage from compressor? Whats the amperage for the fan motor?

Also, how old? And what refrigerant is being used? A loud hum can be a few things. The compressor could be old. The charge could also be slightly low, which would take oil away from your compressor..causing it to be louder.

What color is it?

There is an exhaust fan for the compressor. If you can take it apart and throw some marine grade grease on the bearings and put it back together.

I got a free fridge a few years ago and did the same, been quiet ever since.

thanks for some actual advice user
will try it out
