I did that in a game shop with a racing game this kid wanted. PS3 had been out for maybe two years and this kid was looking at discount PS2 games for under $10. He kept looking back at this racing game and then back to the discount bin. This game was only $20 but it was very obvious he couldn't afford it. He picks out a discount game finally (didn't see it, saw the price tag for $4), looked content with it, and I decided to grab the game and give him the money for it. His eyes light up and he runs to the counter to pay for it and the discount game. He tells everyone in the store, "This nice man just got me the game I've been wanting," out loud and people look over at me and my chick friend. I felt like a gigantic attention whore but the kid was stoked and hugged the shit out of me, so I can't really complain. Feels good to do something nice.
