Most people in cities are **not** liberals. We are leftists. We want stronger unions, better protections for the working class, more equality, etc. Most of us don't give a fuck about religious sectarian bullshit or traps using bathrooms or other silly distractions. We hate liberals too, but at least professional-managerial class liberals are smart enough to vote their own class interests: well off yuppie social liberals support corporate power. The “republicans are the party of fiscal responsibility” meme has got to die. They don’t spend on government programs so they can slash corporate tax rates. Social services are corporate welfare to support corporations who don’t pay people enough for a comfortable life. We can easily pay for more services by bringing taxes back to where they were when the economy was booming in the 50’s and 60’s. More services paid for means normal people have more money to put into the economy.
