Called up Colt, told them my problem, gave them my serial number, they told me a price so I said sure and got the RA started to send it in.
Got a call back 2 days later saying there was a problem with my service RA, the serial number was wrong. They said send it in anyway, they needed to see it to make sure.
Sent it in, got a visit 3 weeks later from the local ATF office here enquiring about the firearm, where it was purchased, how long I’d had it, etc.
Turns out it was a very good quality fake I couldn’t tell the difference from my other Colt I’d bought at a FFL dealer.
It wasn’t a huge financial loss, bought it for what I thought was a steal and it was, and I found out why.
