Is anybody here a college professor, high school, middle school, or elementary school teacher...

Is anybody here a college professor, high school, middle school, or elementary school teacher? What is your occupation like? Is it challenging? Fun? Decent to good pay for living within your means? I have an English bachelor degree, how easily could I obtain an elementary through high school job? How many extra years of education do I need to become tenured as a professor?

I was reading reddit the other day (barely ever go on so hold off on the fag comments) - reading AMA threads. And one of them was a college professor who left his field because of the bullshit in the field + the pay. Just think about that - thats the most profitable system in education and it's considered "higher learning" and he couldn't bare it. Now he writes college level papers for anyone that pays. He explains the whole problem wrong with academia.

If you don't wanna click on it just google "college paper writer reddit" and click the newest one.

I will not answer because you are posting that little shit Woody Allen.
I dislike him so much I would be willing to fuck 10 Israeli army girls just to never have to see him again.

>fuck 10 Israeli army girls
They are usually hot. Wtf are you on?

Wait, that’s Woody Allen? What is this picture really from? I thought it was just a photo of some rabbi looking Orthodox Jew. I didn’t have any pictures of teachers on hand, but apparently, the word rabbi means teacher.

My mrs is a university lecturer in the uk. Very rewarding, very long hours, very good pay.

It would be terrible if she didn't love teaching her subject matter, though.

Go back to plebbit fag

I've been on the chan since 17. Don't think ill leave now after all these years.

And I wouldnt be on reddit AMAS if there anything other than fucking Fb IG fap threads and tranny + discord shit everywhere

Vehjejxnbebbebd

Thank you for the link. I saved it to favorites so I could have it as a future reference.

there is no excuse to be on plebbit at all Id rather look at fap threads all day than go to that shithole

If your interested in professional paper writing services there was at least two other guys from 4 years ago who had the same services.

IMO - Don't teach for money. Teach if its your passion and you care about the next generation. If you live in a major coastal city, be prepared to be disappointed. All the kids are fucking stupid, have no work ethic, can't get off their phones. Then have to deal with the bullshit administration and listen to them about creating "safe spaces" and adjusting to identify politics in school.

>Not reading AMA's from successful or interesting people...

Yes user, stick to your faggot tranny threads. Cuckboy. I bet your a real winner irl.

Annie Hall. Honestly one of the funniest movies you'll ever see. The scene is from a dinner he's having with his very waspish girlfriend's family. Also, film has great small role for Christopher Walken.

Money is not my life’s priority, even if the acquisition of such is important for making financial payments, buying supplies, and donating to Christian charities of my choice. I simply want to teach, uncorrupted, in some capacity. I live in California, and students should have a better quality and passionately interesting education as much as it is possible for them, without corrupt indoctrinations, as so many teachers have exemplified, in recent years.

Thanks for clearing up the context of the picture. I’m not really aware of who Woody Allen is, much, but I’ve heard his name before, and I know that he had, or maybe still has an ongoing sexual scandal. How bad is that?

>California, and students should have a better quality and passionately interesting education

They might if they didn't have curropt teacher unions. LOL. I hope you can get into a private school. At least there you won't have to teach public school retards whose parents have no expectations.

Also if you're in Cali, prepare to deal with the liberal identity politics and everything else coming (from there) in the future.

fag

Thanks for the advice. I’ve lived in California my entire life, so I have a sense of the leftism going on, although I have attended private schools for most of my school years. I’d probably try to apply for a job with a private school, if I find I am unable to work at a university or community college, even after obtaining a PhD. The identity politics are very big in this state, but I have learned to conceal my political views, unless among trusted individuals. In teaching, I hope to impart wisdom along the lines of common sense and an honest search for the truth, rather than discuss politics outright.

I don’t smoke.

His sex 'scandal' issues are really complicated and have been going on for about 25 years. Basically he married, and is still married to, Mia Farrows adopted daughter. She was never his daughter. Mia Farrow is crazy, Ronan Farrow is actually Frank Sinatra's son and everybody else involved is mentally unstable. What he did was unseemly but some of the other accusations look desperate.
Anyways, dude made some great movies.

That's very very very hard considering the unions + the mandated teaching from the education department.

My best high school class (I went to public school in the 5th biggest city in America) was a current events class senior year, and we talked about politics and what was going on in our community. Halfway through the admins had a problem because there was "concrete learning" (except of course the critical thinking and the knowledge of our community and how actions influence it) so we had to switch to a statistical, graphing mode of examining problems. At which point half the people literally just skipped the class daily. I could tell the teacher was pissed too.

Mandatory African America history that was practically nothing about American history and was focused on literally Africa....

New Jersey just considered a proposal to mandate a more "inclusive" history teaching. What that means? Who the fuck knows. But they had to make a concentrated effort to ONLY buy books from companies that rewrote history to include gays and POC. You don't need a law to include that shit and to restrict companies who make otherwise good books, I mean we all know who George Washington Carver was and MLK.

That's an example of vague, petty political bullshit you have to deal with. And it gonna be even worse for the future because you're in Cali.

I've worked as an English prof at a Japanese university. My wife wife is also a full-time prof there, and just last year got tenure.

I imagine that conditions are different from country to country, but there are many opportunities for people with English degrees here, especially if they have a master's.

Difference being the Japanese actually care about education and have a COMPLETELY different culture and attitude towards respect, priorities, goals.

Are there any possibility effective ways to trai young Americans to become more like that? Does most of that have to do with the parents upbringing of their children, instead of teaching at school?

>2017
>after all these years
LOL

That's true. Professors get major respect here. It's still downright weird to see students bowing to my wife, or to me, and using such respectful language.

I don't think I could ever teach back in the West. I'd smack the crap out of a student the first week.

Short answer: no.

The cultures are entirely different, and that ain't changing any time soon.

Adjunct. Archaology.

I left the field due to the difficulties of finding funds and often feeling alone and underpaid.

Uni employment is both rewarding and frustrating. It's rewarding in the sense that I have two TA's who work on the grading, so I all I have to do is prepare the lecture, rehearse, and line up a guest speaker (which is sometimes complicated, but whatevs)

The downside is that full-time professors are master politicians. They often form cliques, and it's ideal to cater to them if you want to be promoted.

Most students are ungrateful, don't care to learn, and they make me worry about the future of this world.

Getting classes booked under you is another difficulty. It's usually the upper level courses that you can get booked under, but it's under the worst hours.

I am teaching a class on Tuesdays from 6-9 PM to undergrads. Christ...

...at least the new college pussy is good. I'm in my late 30s but I've age slowly.

The problem you're going find in American schools is that it's all local. I went to a school in upstate NY that's amazing. Public school with great teachers and courses. I went to an engineering college and I was a full year ahead of the other freshman in math, physics and chemistry. And it was a mostly blue collar community.

IMO, it comes down to the parents and the home life. The truth is, there is to much going on in our society and with a finite amount of time to focus on those things. So people have to prioritize, and I think Americans overall care more about Facebook and Instagram, or their own problems than whats going on around them, including what their children see and learn on a day to day basis.

To many parents think its the teachers job to educate their kids, and that they play no role in that other than teaching them the first 4 years of their life to eat, wipe their ass, and do basic human needs. There are very few parents who supplement what the teachers are trying to teach.

It's evident when you have so many people not caring about the politics occurring around them and the direction of the country, that's up to someone else, that's someone else's job. You shouldn't "outsource" your child's education.

And that attitude is the problem IMO.

17 years old, Use some common sense and focus a little more when reading you dyslexic fuck.

Then learn to write. Since 17 implies you're taking about the year. If you mean your age then you should obviously write since I was 17. Also that doesn't even give anyone a sense of how much time you've been here since we don't know your age, you might've well just be 19 anyway

This s a quality thread of Yea Forums. We must continue discussing education.

You need to pass state specific certifications to teach below college and you need a masters but really a PhD to teach college. Good luck

Thank you. Ever since graduation with my Bachelor degree, I have often taken to reading and rereading my old English studies books, and reading encyclopedias about the writers. I believe this will help me memorize and better know the subjects I plan to instruct others in.

Funny thing is I'm thinking about rereading and expanding on my AA degree thesis paper on propaganda. I always thought It could've been written way better. Thinking about reading more on the topic to, as I just barely dived into the subject and wrote an overall broad paper.

Was just looking at Noam Chomskys "Media Control" which is a award winning book on issue. He starts of by stating:
"begins by asserting two models of democracy—one in which the public actively participates, and one in which the public is manipulated and controlled." Which one do you think America is lol?

He goes on to say propaganda is important because:
"According to Chomsky, “propaganda is to democracy as the bludgeon is to a totalitarian state,”

In Chomsky’s book, does he try to come across as impartial? Does he succeed in establishing a neutral tone? Or, does Chomsky clearly advocate for a form or forms of propaganda? I want to know more about his book Media Control, if you have some more time. Thank you!

I actually haven't read it yet, those were just excerpts from the description page. I don't think he is taking a stance but a more analytical view.

Currently I'm wrapped up in The Power Broker by Robert Caro. Which is an autobiography of Robert Moses from NY. Who held more power than 5 mayors did - including LaGuardia, all through the use of political engineering in an un-elected position. And literally shaped and built NY city into what it is today, which in return inspired cities across the nation for decades to come. It's 1100+ pages long.

Robert Caro also wrote 4 books on LBJ with one more on the way detailing his life, his use of politics, and his accomplishments. He managed to win a Pulitzer prize from his books on LBJ.

His work is some of the best from the 1900's. Some called it a "Modern day Machiavelli's 'The Prince'. TPB was also a favorite of Obama lol.

You're a massive retard.

Honestly pal I think universities will be on the decline in the near future

It’s much easier and cheaper to teach people online. The average online class has a group of students in the thousands, where even the biggest lecture in university will have 200. And this isn’t mentioning all the beauracracy and greed that goes on in for profit universities, that messes the pure intentions of people like you up. Universities now days are more often things people have to go to, in order to actually have a job that they can live on, rather than people who are passionate about a subject and wish to learn more.

I went to university to get a degree, but I have a YouTube professor to study what I really interests me.

You don’t get in trouble for having sex with students?

Not that guy. But your sentence structure was totally fucked. There is no frame of reference. You could be 18 today for all anyone knows. So shut the fuck up.
