tarantulas are the easiest pets I know of, lots of new world species do fine in a plastic box of dirt w/ something to hide under and a bottlecap as a water dish. there are some nice forums and groups for keeping spiders and other bugs as pets like arachnoboards

id rather have a bunch of salticidaes roaming around in my home,keeping it clean of bugs, while i can still watch and (try to) pet them freely :D

they dont give a fuck if you dont feed them that often too

Bugs are easy in general.

As long as room temperature is ok for them, they just kind of look after themselves.

They also lay a fuckton of eggs, and thanks to Ebay letting you sell them as "fish food" they can sometimes be a little money-maker.

My wife keeps tarantulas. They’re just pet holes in the ground. She feeds them like twice a month and I don’t have to fuck with them. Probably the best pet ever.
