You only need to have highschool. There isn't really any post secondary you can take for it. You either have the aptitude or you don't.

I took the online tests, the written tests, the interviews, and did three phases of training. From application to check out was about two and a half years but training was about 19 months but we were somewhat fast tracked due to shortages.

It's an awesome job. You need to be able to think on your feet, make quick decisions correctly and do some basic mental math fairly quickly. You also need to think in four dimensions but it's all skills that can be learned Imo.

Yeah, I get it. Some of the stuff is a headache and the pay seems to always be "Feast or famine". That said, as a single person S-Corp, I also get to do some fancy retirement stuffs. Plus, it's hard to say how much I make because I get pay some things in pre-tax dollars which would give the illusions of making more, but I also have some additional expenses that standard wage slaves don't have.

Right now it's working for me*. But yeah, I'd probably take a 165k W2 job to just not deal w/ the hassle.

*It's working for me because I've a second client which I normally don't do; but I like them a lot, and they only bring in ~40k this year, for very little time and effort. And the headache of the corp is only really applied 'once'; so having a second client adds almost no additional corp overhead.
