It might be variations in the plate tectonics(i.e, a strike-slip plane) or some form of a storm surge erosion causing the shift in deposits because of an underwater cave collapse. Or some faggot rode over it with a boat I dunno

I was thinking more like "maybe it was underwater at first, some ship dredged over it, then water level dropped and exposed the island."
