I find it hard to get outraged at other countries spying on us and meddling in our affairs, when we have spies in pretty much every nation meddling in their affairs. Some of them are known, to keep avenues open for back-channel communications and deals - some are unknown and sabotaging corporate and governmental projects or stealing state secrets. It's just how the game is played.
