hey as long as he likes it it was worth the price. for $400 its easy enough to replace in a few years if it doesnt last due to the build quality.
we dont have any good numbers just yet as the sample sizes are pretty small, but from what i have seen and researched:
$300-600 range doll, expected lifespan of 1-2yrs with good care
$800-1400 range doll, expected lifespan can be anywhere from 3 to 5+ yrs depending on mfg
$2k+ doll, expected life is usually 3yrs plus, but can vary wildly with material, mfg and doll style.
silicone dolls are generally expected to last 4-5yrs pretty easily since they are lower maintenance.
so even if that $400 doll only lasts a year, your still cheaper than mine after 5yrs and can change up the models every so often.
