At the end of WW2, the Allies felt kinda bad for the Jews but still didn't want them in their countries. Britain had some territory in the middle east it didn't want anymore so they all told the Jews they could have their own country there. After WWII the UN came and said "Give back to the jewish people" and all the muslims who were already there said "who the hell are these people? They havent had control of this land in almost 1000 years. Where are we supposed to go?"

They had a war about it, which went very badly for the muslims that lived there. Israel took control of all of the land they were supposed to get and about 60% of the land that was allocated for Palestine. This resulted in those areas like gaza and west bank, where there is a large muslim majority. Despite the fact they had more land than they were supposed to get, Israel wanted to punish Palestine for causing problems in the first place and decided to try to annex the muslim controlled areas.
The jewish people controlling majority muslim areas were and still are often very abusive to the muslims living there. On top of this, the muslims were still pissed that they got kicked out of what had been their home for the past few hundreds of years. The fact that they were displaced left them with almost no actual resources, and international support for Israel meant that the Israelis had strong militaristic capabilities.
Because Palestine had literally nothing and no one wanted to challenge the jewish people after the holocaust for fear of being called hitler, they felt like their only real option was terrorism.
Since then, it has been a back and forth between Palestinians trying to terrorize Israel and Israel abusing the fuck out of Palestine.

Personally, I think that everyone is an asshole in this situation but I do side with Palestine. Their struggles dont justify their actions and I do not condone their acts of terrorism, but Isreal is being needlessly cruel to people who just want to stay in their homeland.
