pic related and its sister game. ive beaten both and i think they could be rated at 1. a task at most. 2. boring as shit 3. severely terrible in game mechanics 4. lack of story/interesting characters/no depth within developed world that feels like a styrofoam universe by the time you've beaten it. and 5. an extreme lack of natural progression that 99% of video games actually have that mostly comes from usually good map design. its not even about the characters, its really the way the world is sprawled, its not about the story or anything in terms of leading a player, its all about creating visually a leading 'path' almost, and no, im not saying that graphics are the most important thing a game but teaching your player through visual analysis what the 'next' path to go is/should be. most of the time in games you'll have a good sense of natural direction, even in a dungeon thinking about which room would lead to a sideroom for treasure or more enemies for exp/gold, so you almost want to avoid the main path that you are aware of and feels approaches the final destination of that area. this is called teaching the player through visual/intuitive analysis and i think pic related achieves literally none of that and its deeply depressing to hear about people that actually worship pic related. its a disturbing mind to think the n64 games are in any way decent. for the record on not hating on zelda, i actually fell in love with zelda 1, 3, and minish cap as a kid but the n64 transition was in too many ways a step backward in terms of 'game design'. the games fandom makes me cringe in terms of OoT and MM

Bland, and simple story of which nearly every facet is told through dialogue in forced walking segments that are slower than watching paint dry. All gameplay follows the same loop of checking every random drawer for the same supplies to make shivs or bombs nothing else. Gun action is abysmal, bullets are unecessarily rare. Sneaking sections add nothing new to the genre and pale in comparison of nearly any stealth game. Find out the entire plot, and how progression will go within the first 7 minutes, everything after that leads up to what we all knew would happen. Story/tone ask you to believe every last human on earth is a heartless, sinister, piece of shit scumbag but gameplay asks you to believe that those same people are mentally retarded or incompetent. For fucks sake, they cant see you from a foot away, because you're 3 feet below them. Game is given nearly limitless praise, even though it did nothing new for stealth, action, stortelling, or games in general. Shitty cashgrab sequel makes Ellie Lesbian just to pander to cucks and bitches.
