One critic made a valid observation that the short story and the film make an argument in favour of emotional honesty. Ennis and Jack have a deep emotional and sexual bond, and if they were able to express or even admit this bond to their spouses, things would have been much better for them.
Similarly, if OP could admit to us that he is a fag, he could be more emotionally hones with himself and with us.
