It doesn't make you smarter. Psychopaths aren't the calculating geniuses that you see in films like Hannibal Lecter, they tend to be below average intelligence and have poor impulse control and limited social skills.

Bundy never showed or even tried to show any empathy for a lighter sentence. he did just the opposite. he initially agreed to the plea deal that 3 states had come together and agreed upon that would allowed him to serve 10-15 years on a single kidnapping conviction. he then renigged on said deal at the judicial plea acceptance hearing and laughed in the judges face and fucking escaped from jail a week later (first of 2 successful escapes). then when he was finally apprehended and brought to trial for the sorority house murders, he chose to represent himself and narcissisticly mocked the survivor and tried charming the jury and flirting with the female jurors. it was only after he was found unanimously guilty in that trial that he hired a lawyer in the trial for the murder of that little girl. also, Dahmer was 100% psychopath and didn't just get beat up in prison, he was fucking murdered there. the only non psychopath famous serial killer was Edmund Kemper.
