For those born into serious misfortune, abused, neglected, gone into adulthood as a mix of bad childhood baggage, and spend most of their adult life trying to figure out how to basic function as an adult and in society...

I mean we'll never really get to where someone who wasn't treated as we were in life will be. We'll never be happy like them, and some of the things done to us will stay with us for life.

You have to realize two things:

1. Those who are born in misery and abuse, being bullied in school, have accumulated vast amounts of suffering in their lives.

2. This is the perfect opportunity for you, though, because one of the rules of the thing you call Life is, the more you suffer, the better your potential is.

3. Entertain me for a second- imagine that the more you suffer, the bigger your potential gets. Imagine a game, a game like Diablo 3. You've played it at least once right?

4. You get a weapon with a damage output of 1000 per second. That's what the screen shows you. This is the only thing you see at this very moment, your 1000 dps weapon. You go into battle TODAY and see that there are people with a 500 dps weapon (which in this world could be 3rd world countries), there's players with 100 dps weapons (which here could be African starving children), and then there's you.

5. Just 1000 dps, but hey, you're a bit better than those noobs with 100 dps sticks right?

6. However, you start to see people with 1500 dps swords which hit much harder than yours, and you say to yourself- "GEEZ that guy got lucky in the game".

Not OP, thank God, but the last part of your message is something I have come to believe over the past years.

I think I grok what you're saying. I've played D3 but I dropped it before rifts and other post-release content became a thing. Tried playing it through with my kid once but he just wasn't feeling it.

Problem I see is that I'm 90% occupied with brokenly keeping up with the day's activities, and get maybe a 1-3% opportunity for recuperative efforts. Being so broken, I cannot sacrifice that or my baggage causes me to act out and malfunction.

I don't have time to grind AND competently keep up with things, I sheerly out of how busy I am slowly grow and raising kids themselves has healed some trauma, grown some skills. But at the end of the day I look around at all that needs to be done and its clear I'm fucked.

Every week or two my wife will be reading news and come across an article about this or that and realize that my tough, strong facade hides how fucked I am, and she doesn't resent me for it but is shocked that I made it to adulthood with all my teeth, (thousands of work done and months work building proper habits everyone else takes for granted) or she begins to understand the self neglect on how I can cook food for everyone but myself, or why I'm so comfortable socializing but really prefer to stay in the house, or any number other factors.

Her realizing comes with compassion but it also means now there is visibility on the issues at hand. In some arenas it takes it from her adding stress to a region where I have no development into support. In other areas she knows I can grow and increases stress because she sees it as something I should be doing.

Full disclosure, coming up in an abusive, neglectful home I have natively acquired some of the skills you are claiming to have via obfuscation here. I learned to read people, see pain, be able to say comforting or charismatic things on the fly. I have had about 15 young men dependent on me for general sorting out their life, pre-jordan peterson but same basics.

I do not agree that people are born on a special path, at least the way you're thinking about it. The reality is simpler- free will exists in the most full way you can imagine. You're free to forge your own life, and trust me, the extent to which you can succeed or fail, is entirely up to you and a bit to what I call "Karma" (not the same as your meaning for karma). You can be a genius of a generation, and a dead-by-od-20-year-junkie just the same. Good luck!

In general, life would have no meaning if you can't affect another's destiny since we can never control free will. People are free to choose. My personal philosophy has always been "the purpose of life is to find purpose". I like it because it fills a rather large area of ideologys.

One man who is "good" may spend his time working for charity, picking up trash where he may find it, and helping out random people.
He may think that the more good he does the better the world will be. That's his purpose.

To contrast, you may have another who enjoys murder, who is a bit of a sadist, and likes to manipulate as many as he can. He finds his gratitude in prying the very "life" from people. That is his purpose.

Then you have the people who say they have no meaning. This puts them right back at square one.
