When you look at some of the early stuff that was considered to be brilliant (at the time) it's extremely poor, and no better than the average stuff that we get now.

More often than that in my opinion.
What always happens is the recently arrived newfags see everything as being new to them (unless they have been lurking for a long time).
But after a year or so, they start to realise just how repetitive it (virtually) all is.
The difference now is that most of the long time regulars have amassed multiple folders worth of images and greentexts to spam at all the regular threads as soon as they appear on the board.
Sadly, it just makes the huge majority of stuff mind-numbingly tedious once you have seen enough to recognise it all.
Also, any original opening posts, that require a bit of original thought to create a new and worthwhile response will most likely have 404'd off the board because of all the mindless logposting and all the other shit that is nearly as bad.
I did similar here in the midwest for about 15 years, working directly for the mortgage companies. First 5 years I was making good money, new equipment well paid crews saving money every month.
Second 5 years, had to hold onto older but still good equipment. Pay to my crews went down and so did the quality of my people. Did 20% more work and twice the back end paperwork for 80% of the pay. Pretty much quit saving.
Last 5 years, used now old equipment that wasn't in good shape. Only one crew, that I ran. Could barely afford to pay highschool kids cash to work with me (pulled some nice just graduated ass twice). Paperwork and insurance requirements went through the roof, spent 5 hours every night filling out their ass stupid forms. Pulling money from savings time to time. They finally decided we had to have E&O insurance, even though we weren't writing contracts. Said fuck it sold my contracts and equipment.
