What the fuck is wrong with the British
The greeks are still chuffed about their history 2000 years ago. The chinese about their thousand year ago history. The Italians are proud of their 2000 year old conquest, theft and pillage.
The only difference to the current world power is the US is still crowing about stuff from 80 years ago.

They know that when they're kicked out of parliament they won't be able to attempt for a place on the EU Commission, and that they'll have to pay extra in air fares for the lecture circuits.
They know that they'll be accountable instead of blaming the EU when they fuck up, or leaning on Brussels as a crutch to hammer through legislation they want but know is going to be unpopular. They know that they'll have to, sooner or later, bow to public pressure to curtail migration, which is something that the both major parties hate; the Conservatives because on paper at least every migrant is a boost to the economy, and Labour because every migrant is a captive vote. They know that they'll have to stop stripping HM diplomatic and trade services to the bone, and start diversifying economically rather than relying so heavily on the London banking bubble which only really benefits currency speculators.
They know, in short, that they're going to have to start doing their fucking jobs and being at least passably competent at them.
But most of all I think that they are invested in the EU as a project from an ideological perspective. Both sides of the aisle are pro-globalist, pro-interventionist, pro neo-liberal economics to the point now that the only difference between Labour and the Conservatives is that Labour want to fuck your property rights on top of your civil liberties.
