Behold
I just got a new telescope. Would recommend it as a hobby
Behold
Show us your neighbors.
you wouldn't want to see them
What kind and aperature did you get?
noice
114mm or 4.5" reflector
I got the Meade Mini 114 Light Bridge
Eyepiece in OP is 9mm Celestron X-Cel LX
Camera was a low end Motorola
I bought this solely because I remembered Meade as a kid playing Morrowind
Congrats.. money well spent! I'd love to build a shed in garden and install something powerful.
Thank you
And agreed, that is a dream of mine. Newtonians are quite simple to build, or so I hear.
Are you familiar with the sky - constellations?
Nice, used to have an 8 inch skywatcher dobson that looked a lot like that, sold it for a massive loss because i needed money
It was way too large and heavy to be practical though, took up a lot of space too. I didnt know they made dobson mounts for smaller than 6 inch, its a decent price point too, might get one with my NEETbux in a few months
I want a telescope, but I probably wouldn't use it much. Might be cool if I can mount my camera on it
Check out saturn next chance you get man use google skymap and you cant miss it... or the orion nebula, its easy to find too, its about where his cock should be
Yeah you can find adaptors for you cell phone for cheap, you need to have one that tracks, likely computerized, though in order to get nice long expose pictures of nebulae and galaxies, that feature tripples the price over a dobson mount, takes fun out of it a little too, more computers than raw science. You can make a dobson track but i think you have to rig it up a certain way and it gets complicated. You can take pictures pf the moon and planeta easy enough though, ive even done it without an adaptor and an old blackberry that turned out awesome
Not cellphone, a DSLR. I'm aware of the need for tracking, but I've done some astrophotography using a telephoto lens and image stacking. It's a pain in the ass to do it in post, but shooting a lot of images at high ISO is pretty easy.
The pleiades isnt far from orion which should be visible most of the winter, if you check out a starchart it should show you orion and it he points towards them. Orion the hunter stalks the seven sisters for eternity the ancients thought.
It looks better without a telescope imo though because of scintillation as they twinkle, but you need really good skies to see it with your naked eye.
You might want to check out light pollution maps of where you live or if there are any astronomical societies that have good spots to use it at to get the best experience
ive never understood people who just want to look at shit.
theres nothing interesting about space. nothing at all. i have no sense of wonder.
Thats the thing about a telescope, it not a fake computerized image, there are very few parts on a dobson and all of them can be easily understood.
It makes it seem real if that makes sense, its kind of like building a house yourself vs renting a duplex like the shit you see from hubble
Take some more cool pictures op
Hey user, tips for starters?
How much money are we talking about?
Have you learned about constellations and such and if so, from where?
or you are just using it to spy on your neighbors
Hey, user.
What telescope is this? I've been looking at getting one!
Not OP, but whatever,
Get a place that has a nice view of the ecliptic, ie south east to south west. It can get cold in the winter, and if you bring your telescope outside you have to let it adjust to the temperature or everything will appear wavy.
It takes twenty minutes or more for your eyes to adjust to the dark for best viewing, you can use red cellophane over a flashlight if you need to or google sky map has a feature for that too.
Check out light pollution maps for the best places to use it, youll definatley want to get out of the city or youll just have to get a larger aperature, viewing the moon and jupiter and saturn shouldnt be an issue though.
The one OP got is 4.5 inches with a basic mount for 150, but an 8 inch brand name with a computerized mount can cost ten times that.
You can start with planets first and work your way up to constellations, i took a course in astronomy at university, but most of what i know about constellations i picked up over time or from star charts.
could do a lot worse. not exactly the hobby you want if you want to pick up girls.
