HK P7 definitely has the sweetest trigger ever, but it rusts like a motherfucker if you carry it concealed (e.g. you sweat on it) unless you baby it and wipe it down every day.

I shoot my EDC regularly and often.
Why?
Because you don’t get good with shit unless you use it, all the time.
Now, once you get proficient with handguns, you’ll likely get along good with anything you handle, but, times when you need to actually pull your EDC piece tend to be extremely stressful situations.
When I do train with my EDC, I try to elevate my heart rate, get some stress going, and then shoot and clear squibs/jams just to build muscle memory for if I ever have to do it for real - never have yet, and hope I never have to.

I work on a military installation so I can’t EDC. But when I do carry it’s my M&P.40. It’s full size, but I plan on getting the .40 Shield as soon as I can

Ideally it would be lower than the Steyr M9, I’d move the mag well forward if the trigger like in a Tec9 or Mauser C96, and have the bore axis along or just a scootch above your index finger.
It would put the recoil directly back into your palm, and not waste it with muzzle flip.

The recoil is directed directly into the palm because of their low axis and design. Muzzle flip is minimal with proper grip.

By all means then, stick with what you already own. I made the mistake early on of getting a bunch of different calibers leading to a bunch of different ammo needing to be bought.
