I enjoyed OoT the most out of any zelda game, mostly cause of nostalgia, but objectively, in my opinion, it's the third best one.
MM is the best, because it used mechanics and ideas that still stand out today as being unique and even revolutionary in terms of game design, and took a really bizarre side-step artistically.
WW is the second best, first many of the same reasons as MM, primarily focusing on exploration in a magnificent open world, but its strongest element, and what sets it apart from all other Zelds games is its wonderful art style and atmosphere.
OoT established a very well paced, early open world game, with interesting and unique mechanics for it's time, but if you stand back and look at it in terms of today's games, it doesn't offer anything too extraordinary, whereas the other two do.
I think OoT was very much the foundation on which all Zelda games should be built on, but MM or WW should be what they strive to become.

Fuck yeah. Thief 1 and 2 have some of the best emergent gameplay moments I've ever experienced. There's so many stories I've had in those levels and yet they're mine and mine alone. Everyone else who's played them have played the same levels but have had completely different experiences. It's so fucking impressive for something from 1998.

I put wind waker under oot because of some of the monotonous shit you have to do, kind of like that one section on temple 4 in MM but game spanning instead of being relegated to one section. the remaster does a lot to alleviate that.
also, while the game in motion looks great, screenshots never do it justice. I think botw is the look they should have been going for, and could have easily done given some tech demos from the time with cell shading. but they went overly cartoony, which while in motion is perfectly fine, this was a time where internet was not great and most people only saw screenshots.
Overall, I think the best from zelda is yet to come. I think they will move to a more rpg like system, not a hard level system, but a 'if you want to do this early, get good system' moving some skills to weapon types, along with use helps you learn to use them better. they do this right, it will be a seamless system you won't even know its there for normal play, but if you do something stupid it will add fun challenges, my understanding of weapons is this, they don't snap in 2 often, but they will get dull after a short amount of time making a sword more into a blunt object. if they had 2 meters, 1 for sharpness and 1 for breaking the sword and one went down far faster than the other, it would incentivize using different weapons without taking away something you enjoyed using till for find another.

best possible has a few contenders. granted, you would have to label them 2d and 3d because 3d allows different mechanics that while are fun, make some genres wildly different from the 2d counterpart, and usually in a way that if you wanted a 2d version, a 3d one would not satisfy you.
