I'm going on my first plane trip soon and I booked my ticket (roundtrip)
But I just realized they only had me choose my seat for one aircraft and not 2?
Is this normal?
My itinerary does confirm my return flight but nothing about a seat... I'm super paranoid of flying and I've never even walked inside an airport so I'm completely retarded to all this
Means you're not coming back, OP. You have been chosen, nothing you can do but accept your fate.
Jeremiah Morales
Probably because you're getting the same seat on your return flight. Instead of being a retard and asking Yea Forums for help, why don't you stop being an aspie for 5 seconds and call your airline to ask for confirmation?
Nathan Johnson
>call airline
I've tried and going through a billion automated menus is not what I wanna do today
Blake Torres
>Probably because you're getting the same seat on your return flight. I don't think so.
How much time is there before your return flight? Sometimes airlines don't know how many people will be flying that day, so they don't even know what aircraft you will be put on. Thus, no opportunity for a seat.
Have you checked in for your first flight? If you check in online, that is when you typically change your seat, or pick one if you don't have one. Don't worry - you can't get on the plane without checking in, and you can't check in until you have a seat.
The only problem I see right now is that on your return flight, you might not get a good seat - meaning you might be in a middle seat, or near the bathrooms, or facing right into one of the forward walls (the bulkhead). For your first flight, don't worry about that. It will be interesting enough to learn how the airline process works. But for frequent flyers, exactly where your seat is matters more than most other things.

Then just check online or whatever. The point is, don't fucking waste your time asking Yea Forums for help, you're just shooting yourself in the foot.

Mostly what this guy said. At my airline you can only check in starting 24h before departure. Window seats are cool the first few times you fly, if you're not directly over the wing. If you don't have the window seat then see if the person in your row with a window is willing to switch with you once you've boarded. Tell them it's your first time flying. I would give up window for aisle any day of the week. Where are you departing from and arriving to, or, how long is your flight supposed to be?
Jordan Taylor
No I havent checked in. My flight is on monday.
I really dont care what seat I get just so long as I have a way back lol
Also another question. I have pretty severe anxiety (I mean just getting confused on where I need to go is enough to cause me to black out and panic)
Though I've had a few people tell me that there are workers there who will literally walk me right to the plane if I inform them of my severe anxiety
Is this true?
Daniel Ortiz
The first seat I booked isnt a window seat (I was told that window seats werent really worth it).
I'm coming from Los angeles to Arizona. About an hour and a half flight so thankfully it wont be long
Xavier Brown
>Is this true? This is true. Usually they deal with people in wheelchairs and children flying alone. But I'm sure they will help someone who's new and confused.
Carter Powell
you pick your seat when u check in for the way back. everyone in this thread is obviously retarded
Angel Fisher
Thank God because here in LA I'm kind of used to rude workers that would rather not help you if they could avoid it some I'm just scared that I'll stumble across a grumpy worker who doesnt want to help me and then I'll just basically crumble and die on the floor lol
James Bennett
I think as a first time flyer, you would enjoy a window seat. You can change when you check in online. Reminder - check in ASAP that the airline allows it (24 hours exactly, probably), because half of everyone on the plane will be doing the exact same thing. You want to be first to check in and pick a good seat.
On an 1-1/2 hour flight it won't matter, but you don't want to be on a 4 hour flight, in the last row where you can't lower your seat, next to the stinky bathrooms where everyone is lined up for their turn, with your feet squished because you had to put your bag under the seat in front of you because you didn't pick a seat where you could board before all the families who give their 6 year old's their own Barbie suitcase and fill up the luggage racks.
I just gave all the frequent flyers a nervous twitch imagining this scenario.

Window seats are cool the first couple of times but only for the first and last 10 minutes of flight. I flew to Tucson last week. Which airline are you flying with? There are airline personnel who can help you but understand with spring break going on the planes and airports will be fucking packed. Pay attention to what you are doing. Airports are pretty easy to navigate. Also know that everything inside the airport is expensive as fuck.
Nolan Wilson
I get anxiety when it's time to deplane unless I'm on an aisle seat and can stand up immediately. It gets claustrophobic with everyone standing and the bins all open. Pick the most forward seat you can if that stuff bothers you.
Charles Wilson
My bf said arriving about 2 hours before my flight was ok.
Aslo the airport in Arizona I'm going to is very small. Even when I booked the flight there was only about 4 other people who had seats booked. It's basically an airport in the boonies because that's where my parents live lol
Well on my itinerary it says "Flight operated by SKYWEST AIRLINES doing business as UNITED EXPRESS." Also yea I dont plan to really by anything there.
I read that you can bring snacks on the plane? I have these chocolate brittle snacks I wanted to bring with me.
Also makeup is another thing I'm worried about. From what I understand all gel and liquid makeup is ok as long as it's in a quart sized bag and eat container is under 3 ounces?
Jaxson Diaz
>My bf said arriving about 2 hours before my flight was ok.
That is for the time it takes to get through security. Before you get through security, you still have to check in. That means you have financially committed yourself to the trip and they convert your reservation into an actual seat assignment. You can do that at the airport, but most people do that online 24 hours before the flight now. If you do that at the airport, remember that's another line you have to wait through. You might want to add another 30 minutes of time to allow for that.
Joseph Jackson
yeah its normal. you'll get assigned a seat or get to choose one when you check in
Isaac Rodriguez
>My bf said arriving about 2 hours before my flight was ok. Yeah, that's fine. > "Flight operated by SKYWEST AIRLINES doing business as UNITED EXPRESS." It will be a small, United branded plane. Skywest is a regional carrier. Correct. Liquids need to fit into a single quart sized bag. TSA can sometimes be real dicks but it varies. It's more about
Samuel Clark
Well I do see a link on my email that says this (pic related)
so my flight is at 7pm. And I only live about 30 minutes away from the airport.
So if I wanted To. On the day of while I'm still at home I could just check in by clicking this then?
I just assumed I wouldnt be able to "check in" unless I'm physically there at the airport
Check in online ASAP, usually 24h exactly from time of departure
Evan Gomez
Ok just so we are clear its not like all my products together have to be less than 3 oz right??? Because that will be an issue lol This is the bag I plan to carry in my purse
Also I'm kinda gonna be wearing a big jacket. I'm trying to carry as little as possible with me so I'm sort of wearing most of my clothing that I'll need on me. So I'll probably look super poofy lol
>I just assumed I wouldnt be able to "check in" unless I'm physically there at the airport You can do that, but most people don't because it's another line where you can get delayed. If you're comfortable enough to post on Yea Forums, you're comfortable enough to check in online. I recommend that. And once you do that, and remember you'll have to do the same thing 24 hours before your return flight, you won't worry about the seat assignment for the return flight - you'll know how it works.
Anthony Parker
Oh, I forgot to say - all these airlines have their own app as well. Download the app, use it to check in online using your 6-character confirmation number and flight date. Then you can use the app as your boarding pass. You'll see people in line at the plane holding their phone over the scanner (and at security) - that is them using the app to board. It's a good idea.
Matthew Gonzalez
Lol, no. Each individual container in the quart sized bag has to be under 3oz. You will be asked to remove the jacket. Like I said before, all this shit varies depending on location and day and TSA personnel. I carry a backpack with liquids/laptop/shit I might have to take out.
Jason Powell
What he said. Also, screenshot an image of the 3d boarding pass on your phone just in case. To get through TSA you need a driver's license or state issued ID, and either a paper boarding pass or that 3d barcode from your digital boarding pass.
Julian Hill
That's perfectly fine. I fly every 2 weeks for work. You'll be asked to take the bag out when you go through TSA.
