Intelligent life probably exists in the universe but as a species, humans will never ever encounter aliens, due to the vastness of space. We might find simple evidence of life like bacteria or fossils but we will never discover or interact with aliens.
Prove me wrong.

it's already happened

I can see us finding bacteria on fossils in OUR lifetime,
but if humans get their shit together then I can see distance humans traveling to other planets and finding them.

bacteria been found long ago. this is in mainstream media even. why do you fags constantly discuss things you know nothing about?

our home galaxy, the Milky Way, is 52,850 light years across. At best humans may be able to achieve 10% the speed of light in the next 40 years. It would literally take millions of years to explore our own galaxy. On top of that there are an estimated 100 billion galaxies in the known universe.
We are alone. Accept the blackpill.

Proof is impossible in this context considering how little we know about planets outside the solar system at the moment.
We're only just now getting to the point where we can find earth sized planets around other normal stars (they found some small planets around a pulsar a while back but those are much less likely to harbor life than planets around a main sequence star), and most of those planets are around red dwarfs which are not much better than pulsar planets in terms of finding life. Earth sized planets in the habitable zone of red dwarfs are likely to become tidally locked before they become as old as the earth is, and tidal locking (presenting the same face to the star, like the moon does to the earth) is likely a death sentence for complex life on a planet.
We'll be able to detect smaller planets around larger stars with the launching of space telescopes like the James Webb Space Telescope and the Advanced Large Aperture Space Telescope (ATLAST) if they don't get cancelled before they get launched.
In a few decades, we'll likely have a much better idea of how common earth-like planets are, but that doesn't necessarily mean that we'll be able to tell if there's life there or not.
People think that aliens will be able to pick up our radio and television signals, this is a frequent theme in science fiction, but even SETI doesn't think this is possible. A radio telescope the size of the Arecibo telescope would only be able to pick up our radio and television signals from .3 lightyears away.
Long range communication will have to be using focused beams, which means that they have to be sending their signal right at us and we'll have to have a radio telescope looking at that part of the sky. Once we can find more earthlike planets we'll be able to narrow down the list of suitable targets to send and listen for focused radio signals.

Can't see even "type 1" giving a a fuck about pathetic worms like us, who actually murder each other for cognitive dissonance.

ids in my POOY

James Webb Telescope is due to launch in 2 years from this month. Most likely will be more delays though, they only get one shot to make it work.

whos to say aliens way out there arent retarded animals instead of cosmic geniuses? like even much lower and more cruel than humans. i mean basically useless and dangerous space monsters.

I absolutely believe intelligent life is out there.

Do I think we will ever encounter them in my lifetime? I don’t

Do I think humans will ever encounter them until the sun blows up earth? 30% sure on that

if jw craps out they have a few other big telescopes planned to launch. we may all be dead by that time but at least i read they are in the works.

Even once we know where to look, it's questionable whether it's smart for us or any other intelligent life to send signals, since we have no idea how powerful the other species might be and if they might be hostile.
Then there's the whole UFO phenomenon. UFOs literally do exist. UFO just means "unidentified flying object; this does not necessarily imply aliens. Most sightings are shit like meteors or inbred hillbilly yokels misidentifying Venus or some stupid shit like that, but a significant portion of sightings remain unexplainable by conventional means.
If you read the Condon Report, which is the report that the USAF used as justification to shut down Project Blue Book and (at least publicly) stop investigating UFOs, 20% or so of the sightings defy explanation. You'll see phrases like "no conclusion is possible at this time", "some almost certainly natural phenomenon, which is so rare it has never been reported before or since", "tentatively classified as an unknown", and even "a mechanical device of unknown origin is the most probable explanation".
The Condon report only looks at a very small number of the total sightings.
Again, unexplainable UFOs does not conclusively mean aliens, but it's a possible explanation and seems to jive with the reports of aliens coinciding with UFO sightings.

i doubt aliens have ever or are now buzzing around earth. there is just no concrete proof of that. if they were that capable they would show themselves since they would know we wonder about them, but its been no dice so i doubt they exist on earth anyway.

Aliens are in touch with the higher ups. Full disclosure in my lifetime is a good thing.

I'd go further. It's not just us. They all suffer the same fate, civilization always being too frail and fleeting to cross between stars. The Fermi paradox is no paradox at all.

Aliens dont exist in the outer space, they exist in the outer dimensions. No space craft or tech is needed to interact with them we just need to enter into their dimension or vice versa.

>we just need to enter into their dimension or vice versa.
Fringe was so right..

ayy
lmao

Dawn of the primates is a recent phenomenon. Imagine someone is having extra billion years of evolutionary progress on you. Our dinosaurs died barely days ago on cosmic calendar.

Or even better.. Contemplate someone is having more advanced set of DNA, human vs chimp scenario.

>humans will never ever encounter aliens, due to the vastness of space.
JESUS FUCKING CHRIST
ANOTHER FAGGOT POSTING FUCKING

BULLSHIT

BULLSHIT BULLSHIT BULLSHIT BULLSHIT BULLSHIT BULLSHIT

YOU DON'T KNOW

YOU DON'T KNOW ANY OF THIS

IN FACT IT'S LIKELY WE WERE ALREADY VISITED BY ALIENS

DOES "JESUS" RING A BELL YOU SMUG FUCK?

DOES IT? ANSWER ME YOU FUCKING FAGGOT NOW.

>Prove me wrong
It doesn't work that way. You have to prove that there isn't life out there since you're the one making a claim.

Also, kys.

>no technology is needed
how, pray-tell, you suppose we went these other detentions in any meaningful way you tard?

>Imagine someone is having extra billion years of evolutionary progress on you.
They'd diversify enough during such a timeframe that they end up multiple different species'.
Additionally, there's no telling what the limits to life are.
A species intelligent for millions of years would probably transcend reality or something.

They're very likely watching us masturbate right now.

Probably.
It's an established facts UFOs exist, pilots had plenty of run-ins with them when our jet technology matured, then that became less and less frequent over time.
The explanation is simple:
They didn't expect us to make high tech planes so quickly and then withdrew their UFOs to prevent interacting with us too much.
We also gave them the means to surveil us in other ways, namely our own technology. They just have to listen in to our transmissions now.
Of course nobody knows what exactly these UFOs were or whether there were aliens inside. Probably some kind of automated craft.
I mean, look at our robotic technology, and we're literal babbies, most of our technology isn't even 200 years old yet we can make robotic probes.

nice bait

right on

You're either 12 or this is a shitty troll.
Which is it?

kek

And then...
Space Niggers.

No, it has not.
Moron.

Aliens do not fucking exist

>You have to prove that there isn't life out there since you're the one making a claim.

>most of our technology isn't even 200 years old

initial leap was rather quick, but I'm skeptical for anything similar happening in the future

Our "youth" in the technological sense also means it is vastly more likely intelligent aliens will find us than us finding them.
What are the chances we come across another primitive intelligent species? Odds are they have been advanced for longer and as such have a head-start in exploration.
This balance only tips in hundreds of thousands of years.
