The new WTC Cortlandt station is very beautiful. Have you been down there yet? The white marble (or whatever) walls, everything is clean, the looking platforms and passages. But they fucked it up by engraving all that liberal gay shit all over the place. Why does EVERYTHING have to be a reminder of inclusivity, diversity, acceptance, etc? Why does that message have to be drilled into everyone's skull every moment of every day? Could it be that it all goes against human nature, and without constant reinforcement from all angles at all times, that message would fall apart almost immediately? Is our "strength through diversity" really that fragile? And if so, why do we call it a strength? Why would a series of memorials built for thousands of people who were murdered not because of their race, gender, or sexuality, need to be memorialized in a way that focuses on race, gender and sexuality? All kinds of people died at the World Trade Center. Christians, Muslims, Jews, men, women, straight people, gay people, citizens, non-citizen immigrants, tourists, rich people, poor people, white collar, blue collar, and so on. What about the WTC collapse necessitates yet another reminder that oppression by race, gender and sexuality is a bad thing? None of the people killed there were targeted for any of those reasons.

i haven't been up to the new station but i've been through the PATH and mall parts, didn't see anything there like what you're talking about. but haven't visited the memorial there either, just the local memorial here in hoboken, since that lacks the tourists acting like assholes and the family member i lost was from here anyway
