Why is it that you always see lighting from afar but never up close? Like you never see lighting strike in the city or never hear stories of it happening.
Why is it that you always see lighting from afar but never up close...
Go on YouTube. Your mind is gonna be blown.
I was in a classroom on the 3rd floor, flag pole right outside the window I was sitting by, one pane of glass and 6 feet away. Lightning struck the pole. It was really loud, like an explosion, and really bright, even through tinted windows.
Glad you are alright
Are you fucking retarded. I've been in a house that was struck by lightning. It fucked up every electronic device in the house that was hooked up to the mains.
yes not knowing your personal anecdote makes him a retard
lightning struck the ground across the street from me.
felt my hair stand up seconds before, then a flash and it literally sounded like a bomb.
there was a scorch mark left on the sidewalk where it hit.
then i ran the fuck inside.
Bullshit
was there a metal pole attached to the sidewalk?
lol
All paid CIA nigger shills. You're closer to the truth than you think OP. In half of those videos if you frame by frame you can blatantly see the "lightning" start at the ground, yet for centuries man has KNOWN lightning strikes from the SKY.
The sandbox at the park down the road was struck by lightning. It left broken greenish glass in a cool pattern where it struck.
I had a tree in my backyard get struck by lightning and it fucking exploded mate.
the apartment building across the road from ours was another 3 stories taller(only two, 10 from our 8) but was up on a hill significantly, had lightening rods on it, got hit every year at least a few times
at least twice i was -almost- looking at it, enough that i could see the shape burned against my eye for a few minutes
on the north side of lake ontario, we get lots here
oh and at grandparents one summer a tree got hit and it exploded the bark off half, tree about 30 ft from the house, loud as fuck, tall grass all blown flat and then died a few days later, all mashed down, most of the bark in one long strip laid out over the exploded grass
there was a telephone poll nearby. not sure why it wasnt hit...
real truth. whole family was there for a wedding.
Tell us what happened, lad
Suckstart a shotgun queerbait
Once while in school during a thunderstorm a bolt of lightening zaped a stop sign on the corner of the block. I've experienced several close hits.
Just be glad you've never had it hit nearby.
Men before our time just lacked the technology.
Mother fucker I just saw lightening strike the power pole across the street and I'm in the middle of the city. It's super bright and fucking loud like an explosion
Light does shoot up from the ground to meet the arc shooting down from the sky. U dense ass
hmm... on august 8th, 2005, i was on the east side of tucson, arizona. it was an incredible lightning storm. i was in a second story apartment and it was insane... it was like bolts from the sky that felt right next to me. they'd light up the room and the thunder was simultaneous. it was like... i expected to get blasted.
i bet there is video of it. i remember at least 100 strikes in an hour. it was amazing.
Does lightning strike from the sky down, or the ground up?
The answer is both. Cloud-to-ground lightning comes from the sky down, but the part you see comes from the ground up. A typical cloud-to-ground flash lowers a path of negative electricity (that we cannot see) towards the ground in a series of spurts. Objects on the ground generally have a positive charge. Since opposites attract, an upward streamer is sent out from the object about to be struck. When these two paths meet, a return stroke zips back up to the sky. It is the return stroke that produces the visible flash, but it all happens so fast - in about one-millionth of a second - so the human eye doesn't see the actual formation of the stroke.
Are you in southern california?
At a guess, I'm going to say it's because it's never happened to you personally, and you didn't really look for any stories of such, because there are a lot of them.
I been near 30ish feet away from a lightning strike
it's very fast, very bright white, and very very loud.
Yes this is the information that I come here for, and it's hard to get good info, i have to cypher through the bullshit of traps, bbc's, and cuckoldry stories to find good information, thanks
hit the nail on the head with that one, very good
You know, there's a whole world of information beyond Yea Forums let alone the 4chins.
no fucking way is there Yea Forums has the sober facts
One time lightning struck a red cedar tree about twenty feet from my bedroom. It was a big, fully grown tree, and it was just shattered, like the lightning just exploded it into splinters. I think there is still a piece that I left in my bedroom closet when I moved out of my parents' house. I kept it as a keepsake.
I suppose that's all that's left of that tree now.
Dude, if you want to see a lightning strike up close you have to find a field and stand there with a metal rod pointed straight into the sky during a storm.
I was actually struct by lightning in a well populated city and survived. I can now run really fast as side effect.
your wheelchair got pimped?
Really? no wonder i never see lighting up close! I don't own a metal rod, I'll go to the 24 hour walmart and buy one, now if I point the metal rod at the sky it will only touch the rod and not me, right?
Yeah bro but you have to be soaked, preferably in salt water to create a barrier and take your shoes off too so the extra electricity can get to the ground and doesnt bounce around.
My car got hit while I was sitting at a light one time and it felt like a sumo wrestler jumped on my roof
I read an interview some years ago with a photographer who was obsessed with getting a picture of that exact moment when the paths meet. He'd already been trying for many, many years with a whole suite of equipment, but of course the odds are against him getting that one instant. Hope he does someday though. That would be awesome.
The lightning struck one of my friends houses when we were kids. I could see and hear it, as I lived just 200 meters away from her.
The lightning struck the road just a few meters ahead of me while driving. Not fun.
Oh I'm seeing the exact formation of the stroke
Barry?
I've seen a fuck load of gumtrees being struck by lightning.
>not having a lightning rod
are you fucking retarded as well?
Have you ever heard of google? You are lucky one user knew this info about how lightning and how it forms.
Once had a tent in our backyard get struck by lighting like 10 feet away from me
Soo...he was behind that!?
Who would pay people to try to influence the mind of people on Yea Forums? Think critically.
Pictures?
Where I come from, houses were built with a lightning rod on the highest point of the roof, grounded deeply into the earth and independently from other circuits.
Noice
he's right actually, Yea Forums and others are rife with sociopathic programming threads and bots cleverly coded to reply and repeat a LOT of the same talking points / posts... been paying attention a LONG time to realize this and I fucking love statistics and have an analytical mind what has observed this over the years.
There's your critical thinking.
You're just young trash, and actually the one not thinking critically about the option anyone would or wouldn't be present to influence... asking someone "who would" is fucking ridiculous as you're asking a question that actually has a reasonable AND possible answer, where you implied no one would at all, when clearly there are paid provocateurs and bots on thousands of other websites.
why the pic with the big tits i mean c'mon
to grab attention and wake the senses... otherwise it becomes a TL;DR to the R-select half of the population w/ the brain parasite slug thing.
... and further..
Who the fuck asks "why the pic with the [ANYTHING] on the random board...
... are you serious?
... are you actually serious and wasting everyone's time with this basic af triggered little piece of shit troll question? Good job lowering the unfathomable bottom for your generation.
The fuck is up w/ the captcha getting autism btw? lol
Or perhaps your bullshit would get even less attention. You re not doing anyone a service by calling attention on your crap using tits.
