My idea on the matter is that I don't think there is one, or rather I couldn't care if there is one. Not trying to sound nihilistic or that there isn't a point in being alive, but I don't see why it matters to put a meaning on it.
the point is to grow spiritually and mentally enough that you might be able to end the loop of reincarnation for yourself

there is no meaning to life or existence and the laws of physics and nature and everything exist out of pure randomness

>I couldn't care if there is one. Then why ask what it might be?
>I don't see why it matters to put a meaning on it. Then you don't understand the definition of 'meaning', do you?

Because I'd assume people on this Japanese basket weaving board would have an opinion on this and am trying to spark a conversation. Can you expand what your trying to say in the second half of your post?
Jordan Perez
>Because I'd assume people on this Japanese basket weaving board would have an opinionn an opinion that you opened claiming wouldn't matter.
>Second half of your post You say you don't see why it matters to put a meaning on it. Why that matters is self evident, people want to live meaningful lives. It's like saying you don't understand why people eat... because they're hungry.
Easton Reed
I don't think a different opinion on the subject doesn't matter, I just don't see it needing one.
>people want to live meaningful lives People want to live purposeful lives. People search for meaning its not something they just have, right?
Parker Hughes
>People search for meaning Not really. Meaning tends to find people before they really begin to question it. Most people who question the meaning of life are men who enter into adulthood without having meaning find them yet in some way or another. You don't see powerful businessmen or fathers questioning the meaning of life. It is men of the same age who have very little going on for them, a not so important job, a lack of success with relationships, and no children as a result.
Lucas Morales
Truthfully OP, there is no meaning to life. There is no grand scheme. We all live insignificant lives that only matter to each other.
I sound like an edgelord, but with that truth in mind. Live your life however you want it, without the restraints of a higher being. Without the requirement to do something that matters in the long run. Do what makes you happy simply because it makes you happy. (sorry if this is shit, this is my first post to Yea Forums!)

>Meaning tends to find people before they really begin to question it.
Sure sometimes, but looking at the examples of powerful business men or fathers, they are being driven by a purpose running a business, fatherhood, neither of which I would really call a "meaning of life". Discussing with you I'd assume you would say having a purpose in life is the meaning of it, which is nice.
