The reason he is currently relevant is due to the fight he is currently in for all-time subscriber count between a corporate channel with a staff of 4800 against a dude and his editor. Every major YouTuber has boosted his numbers by pleading to their fans to sub to pewdiepie. There's a creator reason to sub to him currently. I have a channel with 800 videos and 33,000 subs, and I need to support him to keep him on top so that individual creators still have traction against the YouTube monster that can't pay out worth a fuck.
That's why I got my Swedish car's tag to be Pewdiepie related. So that if 5 people sub while riding behind my car, it was worth it.
