How would universal basic income even work? If it only covers basic living expenses then big cities will go bankrupt

The entire nation will go bankrupt from UBI

Fuck that faggot. Is pro-gun control and wants to give out more gibbs to the (economically disadvantaged). Not like it matters, Trump will be reelected.

wat

So basically, it's like welfare, but for everyone, rich or poor?
And you expect it to work?

I’m not pro UBI, but it has some nice features. For one, you can eliminate all the existing welfare systems with their bureaucracies, perverse incentives, fraud, etc. For another you can eliminate minimum wage and other workplace requirements because people are paid poverty wage by the government.

Which is why he won't get anywhere, unfortunately.

Here are here tits

Is this basic income enough to live anything resembling
a "decent" life?

If so, then what is the incentive in low-energy people to
go out, get a job and make more money?

If not, then, is it supplemented with "regular" welfare, for
people unable to work or find work?

Where does the money come from? How is this any
different than constantly inflating your currency? As
people stop working, content with the money they
get from UBI, the currency will get weaker.

Will this not turn into an incentive for companies to
import goods into the country thus killing local jobs
and driving prices for local products through the
roof?

Same guy, not a fan but I’ve read up on it a lot.
>Is this basic income enough to live anything resembling a "decent" life?
No, it’s supposed to be poverty level. Similar to food stamps and welfare. Though decent is relative.

>If so, then what is the incentive in low-energy people to go out, get a job and make more money?
This 100% will happen. I work for a non profit that serves inner city blacks and a huge proportion just live poor shitty lives on welfare and “disability.” But the idea is that you get the money no matter what so, unlike welfare, you aren’t trapped into not working. You may as well work and pick up some more money. We have huge populations in America that make more money on welfare than they would working (because they’d give up the welfare).

>If not, then, is it supplemented with "regular" welfare, for people unable to work or find work?
There’s different ideas, but the basic theory is no. You get UBI and it replaces all welfare.

>Where does the money come from? How is this any different than constantly inflating your currency? As people stop working, content with the money they get from UBI, the currency will get weaker.
That’s not necessarily true. Something like 80% of the value in this country is created by the rich. Yeah a lot of low skilled people will probably drop out, but you just replace them with robots and imports. That obviously has a lot of social consequences, but it doesn’t mean the currency will weaken. Those people will still be consumers too.

>Will this not turn into an incentive for companies to import goods into the country thus killing local jobs and driving prices for local products through the roof?
It may drive up wages because people are less hungry. So yeah, you’d expect low skilled jobs to decline. This is what’s happened in Scandinavia: low skilled workers are so expensive that many of those jobs are eliminated. You bag your own groceries.

Me personally, $1000 a month would do wonders for me. I live in bum fucked Egypt and have to drive an hour to work every day. A thousand would cover my bills, food, and gas and allow me to work toward the career I actually want instead of one I need just to survive.

I can see where it could be problematic in other areas though and how some people would abuse it but if you factor in those that are on welfare, I don't think it would change the dynamic all that much.
