That's just an argument to justify the existence of the "pan" designation. I used to call myself pan in high school because I thought it sounded cooler than bi, and that's the only reason anyone does. Now I consider myself bi.
Unless "pan" somehow includes things that "bi" doesn't, like animals and children and corpses, it's the same thing as bi, and anyone who argues otherwise is a faggot literally as well as figuratively.
