There were two support bands, Skid Row was the second. NiN were the band that were on while everybody was still wandering in and not really paying attention. Maybe they were good in years to come? I never really paid attention after that.

It was ‘91 can confirm. Axl had a boner for NIN back before they were big (Pretty Hate Machine era) and brought them out as support for certain legs of the Use Your Illusion tour. Skid Row had just released Slave to the Grind.

As a postscript I saw an even weirder bill in 91. Pantera opening for Skid Row. Vulgar Display of Power had just come out.

Yeh, Skid Row were epic - they did the whole 'we've been banned from singing Youth Gone Wild in case of riots but we're going to do it anyway. It was only a couple of years ago I found out that was one of his gimics. Think I saw it on Trailer Park Boys of all fucking things.

Got to say though, Skid Row, Faith No More, GnR, they were good shows - epic for a 15, then 16 year old to go to with his mates. Good years, I don't think concerts are as good anymore.

35 year old boomer/gen Y. Have to wonder what happened to us, NIN was the shit for me as a kid, still is TBH. I look at the shit out there now and cringe. Funny, think what drew the likes of us together besides NIN was the fact that most of us came from really, really fucked up families. Bands like NIN let us be us.

I have to wonder if kids nowadays even have the freedom the likes of us had back then, music was out outlet. While the real boomers were blaming their fuck ups on games like Doom/Quake and bitching about Marylin Mason, much like parents nowadays no one wanted to take a good look in the mirror. At least music was there for us, I look at the horror that is social media and have to wonder what outlet kids nowadays have.
