Being on the other side of rain, protected from it, probably gave early humans a sense of relief. They had found shelter and were safe and dry for the time being. It probably also gave them a sense of freedom to relax, as even if there was stuff to do you'd just be stuck under your shelter anyways, it was an excuse to be lazy and get close to people for warmth.

Eh, I can't even work in a chair in an office. Have a degenerative nerve disease so doing almost anything other than resting drastically increases the pain. 7 years ago and I'd be all over that though, used to enjoy a physical lifestyle.
Running in the cold was fun, though even running in the heat was fun. That nice natural release of chemicals in the body and a nice tired sleep to come back to at the end of a day. Some nice things I miss.
