I come from the south, where Religion is like, the biggest thing out there and its seen as odd to not be religious, etc. Where I come from (and I know its not like this ever where else) Many, many religious folks are narrow-minded and so sucked into their shit that its like "well if you don't do what I say, what I do, what I follow you're a bad person, you're no good" And it's funny because I can usually tell them things they don't know. Stuff they don't know about their own practice I can tell them because I love religion. It's fascinating, it's fun to learn about. And I can tell them all I want, and I have their attention until I tell them I don't believe. That' when they turn on me.
My eyes and ears are completely open to other religions and ideas. I may never believe in them, and I sure as hell like to learn about them. But from what I've observed, many religious folks are not like that. And that's a big reason of why I gave up on religion as a practice and kept it out of my site until as of late. Now I get that other places many not be as Bible Driven as from where I'm from, but that's why I don't follow a god, or gods.
And like I said before, I got tired of the idea of being like everyone else. Being so sucked into one thing that I close everything else out and don't consider other religions and how my practices may hurt people. Cause that's all I see here in the south. Old people with their old books telling me I'm gonna burn in hell because of a book that they've twisted for a church that is actually against what the bible says.

Evolution can be witnessed and recorded in action. It is a theory, but that does not mean it is not a theory comprised of facts.

Stop swinging the word theory around like it necessarily means "this could be not true". That's not how it works. In science, a theory can be "these things are true and have been observed, here is an explanation of this" and sometimes the theory is a complete one, based solely on observable fact, like evolution, or sometimes it is the closest to an explanation we can get with current knowledge.

I would say that the most basic form of religion - existing well before monotheistic religion, or polytheistic religions with anthropomorphic gods - is basic animism, which explains natural phenomena as the expression of the intention of named forces.
