my biggest problem with disney is that they don't care about taking on existing fans, and would rather make new fans of old material
which is a valid approach with public domain
>ie sleeping beauty, snow white, little mermaid, etc
because what they do to the material is basically fan fic, you can take it or leave it and still be able to enjoy the non-disney material
it also works with licensing copyrighted material
>ie pete's dragon, song of the south, mary poppins, etc
because the copyright owner is able to keep disney from shitting all over the material or even say that what disney did is not canon and just based on the copyrighted material
but by buying material that is copyrighted and already has a large fan base disney is stuck between doing what they do to everything and alienating the fan base that they paid for, or appeasing the fan base and not being able to appeal to a larger audience
and the "you can take it or leave it" option of public domain isn't possible bc it is copyrighted
fans that don't like what disney does to star wars have to wait 50 years to make fanfic on the original trilogy, 80 years to include all Lucas era films, and 97 years to use anything that disney did

Disney is a great company who makes quality entertainment, and they spare no expense to assure their audience is able to suspend their disbelief. Both in film and in their parks.

Sure, they have done a lot of cultural marxist themes in their more recent films, and Walt Disney would not have liked that. But you have to be impressed wit the empire he created.
