Unfortunately, I had to sell most my guns to my dad when I moved from Pennsylvania back to New York, including my AR. I kept one shotgun and one pistol for home defense, but they're illegal in NYC. Not that I care. I'd rather be judged by twelve than carried by six if I'm ever in a situation that requires an immediate, hard defensive response. But the guns being illegal makes it very difficult and dangerous to practice shooting. You get 3 1/2 years up here for a handgun, unless you're a celebrity like Lil Wayne or Plaxico Burress (who, respectively, got one year in the city jail and two years in a medium security protective unit). It's about impossible to take the 12 gauge out for practice, and the pistol requires me to drive two hours out of the city into the fucking forest. I drive to Pennsylvania to buy ammo because they don't require gun permits (except for concealed carry, of course, but no state firearm registry) or even ask for ID if you're obviously older than 18.

I miss my AR so much. I kept her in the family by selling her to my dad, and I still got to shoot her from time to time until my dad finally sold her. He already had his own, and only bought mine because he knew about my sentimental attachment to it. I miss her so much :(

Didn’t fully read the thread but saw XD talk, I have maybe 6k rounds through my XD40 and I haven’t had any loading issues or jams. The only time I did have an issue was when I did a tourture test and buried it in dirt (open slide) I took it out, put a magazine in, the initial pull back was rough (I mean it’s fine dirt (sand-ish)) but it cycled and fired fine. It’s honestly a solid pistol and tear down is easy as fuck. I would get a 40/45 that way you can swap the barrel and downsize if you want, I have a 9mm kit but idk I just like 40 caliber, only 45 I will own will be a 1911.

i have several AR-15's in different configurations for different uses. My kids ( all in grade school) all have there kits with a AR, tactical Shotgun and a glock 17 with lots of extra mags and a couple thousand rounds for each gun. I figure the way the lib- tards are going they may not have a chance to buy any of them when they get old enough. There guns stay in my safe and they only get to use them with me but someday they will be old enough to take them.

My original point was that our situation in the US is very unique and anons from other countries that have said that they wish their laws would allow them to own more firepower really dont understand what they're asking for. Yes, the weapons are cool and fun and they do protect but they also come with loads of baggage - some obviously tragic - but also the heated debate itself which is intense and tiresome. So for millions of people I'd say it is not worth it, especially if you think you've already been living a comfortable and safe life.

In the last 8 years in my small town alone we have had 2 active shooter incidents and 1 school district wide lockdown because of a shooter threat, which was just a few weeks ago.

The first active shooter was behind my daughters elementary school and he was headed to the high school football game across the street to shoot up the crowd. He was gunned down in the parking lot by police.

The 2nd active shooter event was some drunk guy taking pot shots at kids in a park from a hillside. A police helicopter found him.

Fragmenting 5.56 will still make it through a wall or two, but will have significantly reduced velocity and stop inside the home. A lot of SWAT teams use TAP urban ammo for this specific reason.
