They're definitely not full of shit. They probably get more people to convert to veganism than any other animal rights group out there.

People like to complain that seeing slaughter house videos or animal abuse videos will push them away from veganism, but if you ask vegans, most of them went vegan because they saw those slaughter house videos, and they saw the truth about the industry that they support when they buy animal products.

I've spent 4 years reading about their bullshit. There a MUCH better companies and programs out there that are smaller and doing much better work than PETA. PETA thrives on misinformation and hypocrisy.

PETA doesn't like keeping animals in shelters because it's not right to keep an animal locked in a small cage for the rest of its life. Instead of subjecting an animal to that kind of life, you should put it out of its misery.

There are definitely other great companies out there, but I'm not going to pretend like what PETA is doing doesn't work. It does work, and it works very well for getting people to THINK about veganism.

Personally I haven't seen what they said about Steve Irwin so I can't speak to that, but they're like the WBC of veganism, going to inhumane extremes to "protect" animals, such as killing innocent peoples' pets. I get euthanizing a couple lost souls for the sake of mercy and the convenience of the extra space, but when you have shelters reporting euthanasia rates of over 90% the you immediately lose the morale high ground. Getting caught dumping said corpses in your neighbor's dumpster also kinda hurts your case. (Though that does give me ideas on where to put my dead loved ones)

We could start with the kitty cat treatment. Send dead animals like small lizards, birds, roadkill, etc to some of their facilities doorsteps. Nothing we kill on our own. Just dead animals we find or pets we have who pass away naturally. Their deaths will go on to support the cause.
