Does Lexapro work?

probably

Yes but expect your blook pressure to rise and some weight gain.

I've been on 5,10,15,20

it doesn't work

unless you like placebo

yes but expect to get fat and lose all sex drive.

give it a good 3 mths though also

it will also make you a bit sociopathic, unable to feel goods as well as bads

The placebo effect works, genius. That's why clinical trials have to control for it.

Works wonders for me.

also if you take mdma it will no longer work

Just a heads up 10mg made me feel worse but we gave 20 a shot and it changed my life. Weird shit.

Works for me, Sex drive will come back after a month or so. First month I felt like a zombie and literally didn't give a fuck about anything it scared my fiancee a lot. You need to explain to loved ones how you're feeling when you start taking it. That goes away after a while, if you start feeling the anxiety come back and your sex drive is back to its normal wild self up your dose.

i was on it for years, it works but made me cruel

Yes, but you need to use cocaine along the treatment

It's fascinating how many different reactions people are reporting.

not in the long term

This shit simply will erase you as human beeing

No emotion no feeling no creativity no sex drive

Just useless piece of existance..

no it works on serotonin genius, causing the receptors to release controlled amounts unlike mdma which releases it all at once, thats why you come down, serotonin is depleted... genius.

My life destroyed to 100% from antidepressants

I’ve been on 10 for about 3 months and the anxiety is pretty bad. Should I ask doctor for more?

This. I've been on it for three years and it definitely works for the depression, but makes it kinda hard to feel strongly about anything.

It can.
Every person has a different response to each anti-depressant. Zoloft, for example, landed me in a psych ward. But my sisters been on it for years with no problem whatsoever.

I was on Lexapro for a while. It didn't..."work" but it wasn't supposed to. It stabilized, but not as effectively as others did.

It is effective in a majority of patients, which is why the FDA approved it. Side effects vary by individual just as effectiveness does. The complaining OP is just a statistical outlier.
Any guesses as to what the placebo effect does?

i'm on 30 and it works considering i would be totally apeshit if i wasnt

Didn't work for me, expect trial and to figure out which meds work for you. You're talking to a real psychiatrist, right?

Why do people get fat when they’re on lexa?

Worked wonders for me. Wish I could get it on the street because it works so well.

I didn't have an appetite when I was on it though. Eating 1 meal a day felt like a chore because I wasn't interested in food at all.I've always been healthy BMI and I didn't lose any weight to my knowledge when I was on it.

I had sex drive, but it was hard to reach ejaculation. To each their own though. Everyone's side effects are different, and some don't have any side-effects at all. No harm in trial and error with your psychiatrist. Find what works for you.

this

Can confirm the problems with cumming

the idea behind every antidepressant is to undo what depression does.
>low appetite
>low libido
>low fatigue
so the meds will
>increase appetite
>increase libido
>help you sleep

antidepressant works different on people.
some feel nothing but just flat.
no feelings about whatsoever.
even though they heard a joke and thought it was funny but they can't express emotions.
in some they work great.
antidepressants is a miracle drug for some people.
but remember anti depressing pills are only a little help on your daily life.
it's not wise to have it for a very long.
find someone ors something to give you meaning.

Yeah, forget ever having another orgasm.

You can stay hard and fuck all night, but you're not going to ever finish.

also can confirm, thankfully im into denial so it was super hot to me

did nothing for depression

never had sex on it, just jacked off i feel like the sex would just end in disapointment i miss being able to blow big loads

it can't make you happy

it only makes you numb and slightly more suicidal at times

it is advised that friends and family monitor you closely while you're on the medication

all doctors will try to ween you off of it after a while: the goal is to not rely on it because you will inevitably build up a resistance to the drug, thus stronger doses is prescribed over time if you fail to make progress

it is strongly recommended that you see a psychiatrist to address your underlying mental issues and help you make progress in feeling happiness again

the side effects are a bitch

missing even one dose will make you feel extremely suicidal for a week regardless if you take your dose the next day

It's not a "happy pill" if that's what you're thinking.

What is it with you guys and brand name drugs? It's escitalopram.

>missing even one dose will make you feel extremely suicidal for a week regardless if you take your dose the next day

That's crap. You'll get a headache, nothing that serious.

Work as in killing your libido? Yes, it works.

you're full of crap. look into the science of how the medication works. you'll quickly see why missing even one dose is so detrimental

Been there done that, head ache then fine after next dose.

your bullshit is going to get someone killed

Fucking this. I couldn't get hard during my first month. After that, maintaining an erection became permanently difficult (like extremely difficult). Fapping became joyless; you can't cum most of the time, and when you do manage to cum, it feels weak and numb.

you're some kind of retarded my man. the halflife of the drug is around 30 hours, but your serotonin system takes months to reach homeostasis.
missing one dose may make you feel a bit bad, but it's not going to fuck you shit up. i miss a dose, i get brain zaps, that's about it.

like said, missing one dose never did anything serious to me other than having a headache.
once i didn't took for 3 days and still, the only problem i was having, was a headache.
big fucking deal missing a few doses

on topic, it's a bandaid, or a crutch. it makes you more emotionally stable so you can build healthy strategies to actually fix your depression, or anxiety. it's a tool that you use in combination with therapy. you are supposed to use it temporarily, and then when you are ready, you quit taking it and resume life normally. you are not supposed to take it for years at a time, because then your body just adjusts to the change in hormones as the new "normal".

post proof or GTFO with your trolling

Where did you get you degree?

This thread is going down in flames fast.

this basically saved my life

it's just like the super drug in the movie: limitless (ft. bradley cooper)

>wut
that's not the idea behind them at all. The Idea is to interact with your serotonin receptors (SSRI and SNRIs) and/or norepinephrine (SNRIs and dopamine). The hypothesis is imbalances in these chemicals in your brain lead to depression/anxiety so you try to fix the imbalance. What you listed are a few of the symptoms of the imbalance. It tries to address the chemical root cause not the symptoms. What you described can be accomplished more effectively by a handful of over the counter medicines.

i mean really we don't know how SSRI's work to reduce depressive symptoms, nor do we know the cause of depression. the neurotransmitter hypothesis is just one possibility.

Didn't for me and I was up to 30mg before giving up on meds entirely.
