I’m 20. I’m just an instrument student. Which means I can fly by myself whenever I want IF:

Cloud bases are at least 1000’ and 1’ visibility

But more realistically I will only fly if bases are 6000’ and 5’ visibility.

After instrument training I’ll be able to fly whenever I want regardless of weather.

Haven’t been flying long enough to notice the impact. I’ve noticed there’s a lot more armored security SUVs at major airports like COS and Memphis where i orginaallly came frlm.

The big numbers are the altitude, specifically the highest altitude for that particular little region.

Some of the lines are simple lat/long. The faded circles around the airports are depicting class C or D airspace i believe, I don't use VFR charts ever so am a little out of practice.

You either have to sell your soul and give 10+ years of your life away to the military, albeit you get trained for free, or else you have to sell your soul and go hundreds of thousands of dollars into debt (you think I'm kidding) going to college plus getting all your ratings. It's not cheap or easy any way you cut it. And Chelsea Sullenberger, the dude that landed the plane on the Hudson, says he wouldn't recommend the industry to new pilots anymore. It's almost impossible to get that much debt, then get paid less than minimum wage at the regionals, after spending several years getting paid dick as a CFI....it takes a long, long time to reach the top.

It was good. Just flew 3.3 actual today. My one piece of advice is to always know where you are. I’ve seen people fail their check ride from getting lost in a hold. And during your check ride I’d fly slow like 90kts or something. Give yourself more time between the approaches. Also i got a kinda guaranteed job with delta. I have to become a CFI though and work for a regional for about 3 years. It’s a pretty nice gig. Good luck at fedex too. Been to Memphis a few times to their hub and it’s awesome down there.
