Multiman tags are filler, the matches that count, the big matches that are won through fighting spirit, ganbatte do your best - the ones that the presentation of New Japan is built around. In those matches Naito has to usually lose because he is tranquilo and so he isn't doing his best and is antithetical to someone like Tanahashi who always won. That's literally the core narrative of New Japan under Bushiroad and always has been. This is obvious to anyone with a triple digit IQ.
