That's about where I'm at. Just go practice. You need to focus more on popping the tail. Also, doing some little hippy jumps helped me realize that the board is a lot more stable at speed than when you are trying to ollie holding still.
Isaiah Martinez
You need to consciously shift your center of gravity forward and stay above your board at all times. It's just a commitment issue, really.
Julian Reyes
hella kickflips
Nathaniel Cook
what time does highschool security usually go home for the night?
Jonathan Clark
Ate actual shit for the first time today, I had some painful falls in the 3 or so days I'm skating, but today I tred a small ramp for the first time and i fell on the side of my ass so hard I still can't walk. Fuck. On the other hand I'm starting to do ollies kinda consistently, while stopped though.
Samuel Campbell
>fell on tail bone 2 weeks ago >still hurts like crazy to go up stairs on foot fuck slams I hate this shit man I just wanna skate
Kayden Collins
Thanks dudes, I'll keep that stuff in might. I was wondering today if my wheel size/hardness is making it a bit more difficult as well. I've been learning on 60-65mm cruiser wheels at 80-84a
Adam Murphy
You're certainly not making it easy for yourself but it's very possible to ollie consistently with that setup.
So I decided to try out spacers and Dooks foam shock pads and whoa, it makes a bigger difference than I expected. I hope you're all at least using spacers because the speed increase is well worth it.
Jordan Mitchell
So I finally decided to learn how to Ollie and I put two holes in my new Vans.
So I'm going through the pastebin and... does anyone know the woodshop for Iron Claw?
Nathan King
Cool
Xavier Evans
would skating for six hours a day help me learn effectively? three hours in the morning, three in the afternoon.
Gavin Morris
And some real shoes too.
William Baker
No, you really hit the point of diminishing returns at around 4 and a half hours.
Jonathan Garcia
Don’t overdo it, your ankles will get really sore and within a week or two, you’ll have trouble just trying to push.
James Baker
Nice
Adam Howard
>tfw you pad up and you're still too scared to fall
Is there hope for me, I just want to learn how to manual
Oliver Gonzalez
bail onto your pads from manuals on flat ground
Jason Powell
any new england guys in here? What duro are you guy's wheels? Been skating 54mm 101a's for ever but Im thinking I might go to 99a because the vibrations from the pavement are seriously fucking me up. thing is I really like the slide the harder wheels give me, and I'm afraid I'll stick too much if I go softer.
Hunter Baker
I don't know how bad your pavement over there is but in NYC I cruise around with 56mm 78a's and shock pads. Can't do tricks for shit but it feels like I'm gliding on clouds most of the time.
Why not just get softer wheels and switch to your hard ones when you hit the park up?
Joseph Richardson
The difference between 99-101a is almost negligible on concrete, I truly don't notice any difference. On wood, however, I find 101a's to be a tad glassy.
James Nelson
SLS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS LIVE NOW ON YOUTUBE YOU CUNTS. Women's finals just finished, men's finals in about 30 minutes.
I skate 55 99's, no idea what lettering, but they are goos middle-ground wheels
Nicholas Garcia
Cool
John Price
>tail bone has finally stopped hurting >ankles feeling better too skate day tomorrow lads, rise and grind 9am senpai
Luke Nelson
You know what I don’t get. When you watch someone doing a trick tutorial or something they’ll always have the board stationary in front of them and step on without it moving. When I try and do that it wobbles all over the place and feels like it’s gonna shoot out from under me. I can push and cruise fine but I can’t get on when it’s still. I’m on larger wheels though, bones 56mm rough riders.
Jaxon Walker
tighten your trucks
Jason Young
It’s not so much the trucks moving it’s the wheels making the board go left or right on the ground
Jacob Gray
To specify it’s when you put one foot on a stationary board and are about to step on it moves all over the place
Zachary Harris
I'm 27 now, turned skinnyfat and I haven't skated in about 9 years, should I start again?
Asher Kelly
Same as me, dawg. Go by a skateboard, roll around the park.
Wyatt Bell
anyone here skate an 8.5"? thinking of trying one out, currently on an 8.25" what do you think are the pros/cons?
Elijah Peterson
I skate an 8.75 on 56mm Mini Slimeballs. I dunno. I like it, I guess. It's easier to cruise around on. I can't kickflip, so don't listen to me.
>Mexicans set up a volleyball net and start playing >their toddlers are running around and getting in the way like scooter kids >at the fucking skate park This neighborhood isn't gentrifying fast enough.
Adam Long
I still want to see this handsome devil on a skateboard, just once.
I have a board with new Modus ABEC 7 bearings and 56mm 99a orbs wheels. I'm not getting much momentum at all when pushing and have to pretty much constantly push. I can go maybe a couple feet after stopping. Is this normal?
Benjamin Russell
You’ve tightened your wheels too much. They should be able to rattle up and down a little. ABEC 7 should spin for ages.
Lucas Wood
Thanks! Also, I'm considering going with modus ceramics instead of modus abec 7 for a longboard. Are there any down sides to ceramics? Are they able to handle impacts from tricks as well as the steel ones?
Tyler Roberts
Reminder that if you can't ollie you should be put against a wall and shot
Isaiah Rodriguez
fuck off, dude. people learn at different paces.
Robert Jones
There was a time when you couldn’t either dude.
Thomas Rivera
Focus at low speeds, until you get the hang of it
Austin Watson
Why don't you try some harder wheels and smaller. Reduce wheel bite for when you're rolling
Xavier Powell
If you have a specific routine to progress, sure. Seems like a lot though
Aiden Miller
Still hope for you user, you just need to skate and commit. And you have pads so it wont hurt as much
Parker Lopez
just roll around on concrete with your whole body. I'm not even kidding. if you're not used to getting banged up against hard surfaces since you were a kid, your body will need to adjust and hit tolerance will increase. that helps mentally because you know what to expect and can handle it and will actually hurt less too.
Jason Hughes
Reminder that if you can’t manual then you’re automatic
Gavin Clark
I dont even understand themechanics ofan ollie.when i see others do it its like the board is glued to their shoe. I dont understand what brings the board up with you
Does 8.25 seem too small? Does 8.5 seem too big? Try an 8.38, I honestly think its an underrated size, and my personal go to. Im a shoe size 9.5 - 10. The deck is definitely a little heavier, but it feels to me like my deck is a whole fuck ton wider and its easier to land tricks and almost never get accidental toe drag. Some friends ride 8.5s and it just feels clown shoeishly big like you could never fall off which kinda trips me up.
Lucas Gonzalez
nothing like a nice bath after an 8 hour session
Eli Carter
>8 hour session Damn dude that's intense.
Liam Moore
9am to 4pm There were brakes ofc but no more than ten minutes to cool down and catch my breath
Christopher Jenkins
>it's currently school holidays where I live
Logan Johnson
>tfw no bf to take a bath with after an 8 hour session
Not him but I'm a strict 11.5 shoe size and feel really comfortable on my 9 inch cruiser but it feels too heavy to do any tricks with. My 8 inch popsicle feels like I'm constantly on a tightrope. I'm hoping my 8.5 inch deck that I ordered online will bridge the gap for me and maybe I can get good enough to do tricks on my 8 inch down the line because it feels like a fuck.
Zachary Walker
Richie Jackson. Nice. Oh, wait. He doesn't do a single trick.
Adam Cruz
fuckin' paul blart lookin' mall cop snapped my board today :(
