WOAT
Fuck you for reminding me this happened
hate how kenny pinned ibushi and we never got a big singles title match between the 2
What the fuck was the kayfabe reason for Cody being in this match again
He asked.
To piss away any future plans for AEW and NJPW to work together for a momentary ego stroke main event spot.
Ya see, NJPW wasn't always hostile to the inevitable idea of working with whatever the fuck their company would turn out to but plans changed thanks to overvaluaing their actual worth
NuJapanlets are too slow to grasp the storytelling of their favorite promotion?
I liked it.
Here's the story
>Kenny knows that he needs to defend the title at KOPW, but he already beat Ishii and there's no other contenders except Ibushi.
>He made a promise to Ibushi that they wouldn't fight again unless it was in a building bigger than the Budokan.
>Kenny is torn between his duties as champion and his promise to his friend.
>Cody sees that Kenny is torn and proposes the idea of a triple threat, both to help his friend keep his promise and to weasel his way into a title shot at the IWGP Heavyweight Championship that he probably doesn't deserve that much.
>Kenny accepts.
Basically, Cody was both helping Kenny and taking advantage of him at the same time.
Care to extrapolate?
But the kayfabe explanation is that he just asked. He won the US title and then he went up to Kenny and asked to be put in the match.
>this was a year ago
Thanks, OP, I hate it
I've tried everything in my power to forget this
I enjoyed the match a lot as well; it was something different for New Japan. It also worked as a vehicle for the Omega-Tanahashi feud.
>tfw everytime Cody was involved in the match (and not taking a nap outside the ring) the crowd went silent
Fuck Cody and his overbooked ass
It was good. 4 stars
It really was terrible and reminded me of why I Love Power Struggle so much.
wew boy that one is slept on
>BoSJ final with Roppongi 3K vs Taguchi and ACH
>Suzuki vs Yano in a fucking bullrope match
>Scurll rolls up Ospreay and they set up the fatal four-way for WK12
>Omega has a pretty good match with Baretta and then fucking Jericho shows up and challenges him
>Banger main event between Ibushi and Tanahashi
>Show closes on Jay showing up and making everybody BREATHE
Goddamn this show ruled.
This was based as fuck
Thank you for reminding me it
Thank fuck the Elite are gone from NJPW. We don't have to deal with their BS in the main event scene anymore AND the Bullet Club are seen as threats now.
>Omega has a pretty good match with Baretta and then fucking Jericho shows up and challenges him
Was NJPW really that high on Baretta?
gook shit LMAO
Why did you remind me of this?
Japanese crowds are a different beast. They don't care much about your star power in other countries. You have to prove yourself to them before they get invested in you. AJ Styles wasn't setting the crowd on fire when he had his first matches in NJPW despite his star power. It wasn't until his G1 match with Suzuki that the crowd started getting invested in him.
Agreed
Power Struggle is always best small show due to how Comfy it is.
LMAO at the title.
>AJ Styles wasn't setting the crowd on fire when he had his first matches in NJPW despite his star power.
>TNA in 2013
>"star power"
Pick one
