Dave Meltzer on WOL today said that NXT is overrated due to the following reasons:
>Too many squash matches >Apart from the talent on Takeovers, the roster isn't very good. >The crowd has been awful for months even for good matches >NXT isn't TV ready due to it's presentation
All of that is true but also Takeovers are overrated too and Gargano/Cole suck.
Brody Harris
That's not what he said at all you fucking idiot
Asher Gonzalez
it took him like 2 years to get a clue
Kayden Turner
Dave is finally based for once NXT is a fucking shambles atm, they haven't developed a single actual star since Jasethy et al. moved up
Tyler Gray
NXT definitely isn't TV ready. They need at LEAST one person as good a speaker on the mic and as good at crowd control and improv as JERICHO and that's saying a shitton.
There is not one person on the entire NXT roster and arguably full time on the main shows who has this level of ability. I think you have Miz and Joe and that's it and neither are treated as real main eventers.
Zachary Johnson
why say it now when theyre about to compete with aew? before he was saying how great nxt was..
Alexander Johnson
Dave said he finally got a boner with blue chew.
Michael Campbell
because you got worked by OP
Logan Young
He thinks the TakeOver events are great. TV is a different story.
Kevin Anderson
They currently have Adam Cole baybay
Kevin Owens and Daniel Bryan will be in NXT after the draft as well. Oops spoiler..
Brody Evans
Because it's fine as a sideshow "developmental". It is going to get eaten alive on TV and all of it's weaknesses will be spotlighted heavily.
Aaron Hill
because op made shit up
Jaxson Rodriguez
>Too many squash matches >Apart from the talent on ppvs, the roster isn't very good. >The crowd has been awful for months even for good matches >aew isn't TV ready due to it's presentation mfw this will be true in 2 months
Lol I'm masterbaiting to the thought of changing the channel already. Thanks for the image user ;)
Robert Long
Damn, I got worked.
Owen Butler
He said some of the NXT roster are talented but the rest aren't good enough for TV. He also said the NXT crowd are too easy to please and it devalues the in-ring action.
Christian Torres
NXT staying in Full Sail is a huge mistake. This ain't the ECW hardcores that will prop up the show. They've burned out that crowd.
Cooper Green
He got divorced recently so he wasted his blue chew.
Joseph Sullivan
I only watch Io segments and Takeovers
Robert Roberts
Is this from the same Meltzer who jizzed all over PWG matches because most of the crowd are usually drunk as fuck before the first match started?
Samuel Murphy
Dave is right and its only going to get worst when they go live. Im kind of excited to see just how awful the fullsail crowd will be.
>some of the roster is talented but the rest aren't good enough for TV. He also said the crowd is too easy to please and it devalues the in-ring action. So AEW?
But NXT has gone downhill when it was originally good for years
John Jenkins
>Too many squash matches Mostly true. There's a lot of time dedicated to having someone go over a literal who on NXT.
>Apart from the talent on Takeovers, the roster isn't very good. Very true. NXT relies too much on the indie flavor of the month (like Cameron Grimes) and not enough time on building up new stars that could be something (like The Forgotten Sons)
>The crowd has been awful for months even for good matches I'd argue the crowd was always awful, but if the seemingly endless JOHNNY WRESTLING chants from last night finally showed Meltzer the truth, at least he's with the rest of us now.
>NXT isn't TV ready due to it's presentation Commercials really will be a bitch.
Good shit, Dave. Right on all accounts.
Camden Gonzalez
nice, I have a chance to turn him gay and marry me. >ywn fall asleep in Dave's chest while he tells you about some random nwa match from 50 years ago.
Oliver Perez
It has been overrated pretty much since the beginning
Jaxson Walker
Oh, wow. Wanna know how I can tell you're new?
Brandon Roberts
You really think Adam is an example of great mic work
Samuel Richardson
>he didn't watch season 3 NXT cringe
Oliver Sullivan
So AEW?
Charles Reed
He's not outright wrong, for once. NXT has fallen hard, it's almost impossible to watch now with the manlet brigade riding on top.
Matthew Lee
based dave setting expectations because he knows how badly nxt will get trounced
this is what dave said retards, try not being poor
Liam Hill
Fuck Meltzer
Easton Richardson
Yes. PWG isn't competing with his butt buddies though.
Anthony Garcia
Funny how he turns his back on NXT the moment it's announced they're going H2H with his precious AEW.
Landon Walker
Like AEW, NXT is very top heavy - Dream, Cole, Gargano, Riddle, etc., without a lot of undercard talent.
But unlike AEW, they have two options to fix this problem:
1 - Send main roster guys over in the upcoming draft (and yes, it is a draft, so hopefully they draft Tier 1 guys like Orton, Bryan, etc.)
2 - turn Kyle O'Reilly face, imploding the UE and having the best turn since Hulk joined nWo. then send Kyle over to invade AEW, no tanks, no backup, just his fists and watch as he murders nobodies like Animal Boy and Darby Anus.
Johnny Garganus left absolutely unequivocally seething
Jaxon Brooks
Based and autisticairguitarpilled
Brody Russell
>NXT is very top heavy with too many top guys >To fix this we should put more top guys on NXT to be top guys, this way there won't be too many top guys because they will have more top guys
Andrew Ross
LMAO top heavy, bro, I'll give Dream a pass but nobody else could even be imagined jobbing in a real main event match. And if they give up Orton and or Bryan their attendance for SD will tank even harder, those guys are the only reason some fans even show up anymore. I'm having trouble imagining just how fucking bad NXT is going to be on t.v... Like just trying to picture them airing Gargano, Mia Yim, and all those other boring shitters and expecting people to tune in. They for sure are going to be in a panic when that shit flops and Vince will be calling up everybody, Austin, Carder, Cena, Batista, Goldberg, begging them to come work there, and all of them will ask who the opponent is, and be like WTF you must be joking Vince. Only Cena would probably agree, because Gargano or Cole look exactly like his Make A Wish kids and he would consider it charity. For sure they'll have Randy, Bryan, AJ, but they'll ask them to work double duty on both shows until they get injured from exhaustion of carrying the retarded company.
Jose Baker
He's not wrong, NXT is awful to actually watch. How many people watch only the takeover shows? I know I do
Andrew Ramirez
>This nigga really thinks the answer to NXT's woes is to turn another vanilla midget against the current king of vanilla midgets to attract the people who don't want to watch vanilla midgets. NXT was waaaaay better in 2014-2016 when there was a huge variety of different size guys with 100 percent different styles. >Sami >Joe >Neville >Finn >Corbin >KO >Nakamura >Breeze Much better fucking roster of guys than >Generic kick guy #1 >Generic kick guy #2 >Generic suplex guy #1 >etc
Brayden Thompson
>NXT >developing stars Pick one. All they have been doing is importing top wrestlers that all they were missing to be considered stars was WWE employment. Balor, Owens, Zayn, Joe, Nakamura, Roode, etc were all top guys in other promotions. I can't remember a single guy that was made a star due to NXT since the Shield.
Lucas Hill
To be fair, they've had to adjust them to the WWE TV style.
Matthew Parker
You're a ding-dong diddly retard. Do you even know how wrestling works, kid?
More main event guys means more main event like matches on your card. Your reasoning (prolly cause ur an AEWfaggot) is that promotions need no name wrestlers and jobbers to fill out a boring ass undercard.
Tell me which ppv the world would rather see?...
>NXT TAKEOVER
NXT championship -Adam Cole vs Daniel Bryan
NXT N.A. championship -Velveteen Dream vs Randy Orton
NXT Womens championship -Shayna Baszler vs Asuka
Matt Riddle vs Samoa Joe Gargano vs Finn Balor Kyle O'Reilly vs John Cena
OR....
>AEW BLACKJACK
AEW championship -Jericho vs Dean Ambrose
-Omega vs Cody Rhodes -Nyla Rose vs Bea Priestly -Luchasaurus vs MJF -Golddust vs Darby Anus
Adding main event talent to NXT roster just makes the overall product better. Face it, AEW is about to get their shit pushed in and you're too fucking retarded to stop it! Don't make me destroy you with superior knowledge again, zoomer boy.
You're forgetting the women. Becky, Alexa, and Charlotte are good choices.
Ryan Wilson
No
Andrew Turner
I don't watch women's wrestling so I don't care.
Brody Martinez
I don't watch much of them either, but those three bitches are for sure stars either way.
Dylan Gonzalez
If your complaint is that it's too top heavy, then putting more on top just makes the problem worse. I don't even watch AEW, but it's good to see they live rent free in your head tho. NXT doesn't need more top guys, it needs a more diverse roster. Otherwise it's just the same 4 guys rotating the main event. And out of those two ppvs, personally, I would watch the AEW one cause it has an actual structure of lowcard, midcard and main event. Cause why would you have an allstar card for just a normal ppv. Supercards should be reserved for Wrestlemania, where RAW, SmackDown! and NXT all put their main event matches on the show. Having someone on Cena's level opening the show is retarded, he is an upper carder. He should be going on after the midcard belt. You seem like you have no idea how this business works. You have the most eyes on your product during a ppv, that's why the lowcard and midcard is important, since you can then show off these "no name wrestlers and jobbers" so they are no longer "no name wrestlers and jobbers".
Anthony Wright
You had a point but you blew it with that card. NXT storylines suck since Ward was shuffled and Dusty passed away. People would only care about Bryan and Cena, but their opponents suck ass compared to them and wont be on tv all the time. Cena would MOG their roster into oblivion now and destroy everyone on the mic, Bryan would outwrestle them and can also make them look stupid on the mic then when they're gone it's back to MidgetMania, plus you have Jericho, Cody, and Darby Anus is in an actual interesting match and set up Luchasaurus to be destroyed on the mic which would be good, the story would be better and the tv would be better. Again I see what you are saying but you booked contrary to that, you maybe even booked better than the idiots at AEW. Besides Nakamura none of those guys were ever at the top of anything big, and Nakamura was being Jannety'd to oblivion at the time. But I see your point, NXT can't make stars, especially with the company and crowd babying them and giving them big ego's with nothing to back it up. Their roster is useless and entitled at the moment.
Nathan Rodriguez
>He also said the NXT crowd are too easy to please and it devalues the in-ring action. This is true but funny how he only just not realized. Also, this applies to pwg when he was miliking their cock with his mouth.
>Besides Nakamura none of those guys were ever at the top of anything big Come on man, Owens, Roode and Joe were TNA and/or ROH world champions and Balor won as much as he could in NJPW outside of the heavyweight title as well as being the leader of a top stable. I agree that those are pretty much nothing compared to being at the top of the WWE but they are as far as you can go without being in the WWE.
Bentley Edwards
Remember when everyone would complain about how shitty the crowd at full sail is?
WELL THAT IS WERE THEY ARE GOING TO BE FILMING NXT LIVE EVERY WEEK!
Balor was still not close to the top level of NJPW, in terms of placement on the card, performance, speaking or drawing. I see what you are saying, but regardless of titles they were never faces of a brand and carrying a company. Even AJ wasn't because TNA were too stupid, but NJPW brought him to the next level, and he also had the most potential, which is part of why he skipped NXT, and can actually hang in a top spot. The other guys are great but it's a huge gap between them and guys like Cena, Okada or Tanahashi. Literally the WWE guys with the drive and mental capacity to accept their flaws and work on them are AJ, Bryan and Dean. All three actually had a real run, and Dean left because he wanted more, while the other guys like Nakamura, Zayn etc... are sticking to what they have now, it's the difference between someone who could (not saying Moxley can, but he has the mental aspect at least) be a top guy, and someone who can't.
Luke Perez
Based big cock Dave
Isaiah Walker
>is the most over in a triple threat with samoa joe and ricochet He's gonna make it bros.
Julian Rogers
>The crowd has been awful What the fuck does that have to do with the brand god he's such a shill
Owen Morgan
>thread about AEW spokesman and PR-gargoyle Dave Meltzer >can't discuss AEW, the shitty dying promotion he valiantly defends because he just loves those flippy flips
Charles Morales
Seething drone.
Aaron Lewis
This is why K.O will be going to NXT and merging 205
