ITS A VIRUSE HAHAHAHAHAHHA DIE

the type of paper doesnt matter 80% of getting gud is sheer pencil mileage
the other 20% is actual technique u learn from art books and learning anatomy

I meant tracing images that are already drawn right helps you learn faster if you're new to drawing. practicing freehand is important too

but where do you get bulk paper on the cheap

oh no no do not trace that is really bad

like, if you have a drawing from some other artist, and then right next to it you make a second drawing trying to copy it exactly, thay can be really good because like it helps you understand how to properly measure distances + thicknesses with ur eye + u can understand how the artist was able to make the drawing look the way it does, whicn in turn helps u make ur own drawings look the way u want them to

but directly tracing the drawing means you can autopilot it, so the techniques wont really stick with u since u dont actually have to consciously think about it

also most importantly it means you dont actually have to understand the 3d forms of what u are drawing. cuz like, the entire point of drawing is trying to make a shape look 3d, right. and drawing organic shapes in perspective is one of the hardest things to master

if you dont have a solid grip on 3d forms, and youre copying it rather than tracing, then the copy ur making will look very off, and that will help clue you in on what ur doing wrong
but directly tracing will not give u any greater understanding of how to draw the 3d forms urself, u wont ever have to learn how to make them yourself, which is one of the most challenging and skill-intensive parts of actually making a good drawing. also tracing gives u abad rep as an artist

like the only long-term benefit i can actually see coming from tracing is learning how to control your linework to a fine degree but honestly u get that from sheer pencil mileage anyways

ok rant over hahahahahaha

pick up some printer paper from office max or staples or something

thankfully my goddamn friends and family only ever give me notebooks and sketchbooks as presetns for christmas + birthday so i never have to worry aobu thta HAHHAHAHA

for muscle memory and training curb starting with tracing will help someone see how to apply pressure and stay on course with the intended angle. many methods of practice are important, and i am not saying one is better, only saying it can help

there is not a singular point, it's art and you defining it as an individual. no right, no wrong

there is a right and wrong and tracing is very very wrong and perverse pls no my man. literally anything other than tracing is better, /ic/ will back me up here.

also its not about how u define art as an individual. like the one meme that can poison your art practice is that art can somehow be subjective, its actually very objective an d if you arent constantly critiquing ur own art pieces, and if u dont start with the assumption that ur drawing is wrong somehow, then u wont go anywhere. art is cruel + unkind and u must learn to enjoy the pain hahaha

and like again when u say muscle memory and helping someone how to apply pressure and stay on courwe with the intended angle, thats the same thing as learning how to control ur linework to a fine degree, which again u get from sheer pencil mileage anyways.

think what you you like

there is perfection and there is everything else so an artist may not desire to produce definitional perfection

also if someone wants to learn how to control their hand quickly tracing does help by developing reflex and muscle memory. your hand will have that easily attained experience. someone with little control would develop a sense of boundary from tracing

me saying this would help some just starting isn't right or wrong, it's one of many things that can be done to practice

no need to be so upset

oh friends and family

the mighty marvel way?

im not upset seesh im passionate. like im not going to pretend tracing isnt a shit-tier technique so im not gonna baby up my words when talking about it loleoloe. like dont think there's hard feelings on my end im just saying what has to be said

anyways id even say tracing is not one of the things that can be done to practice, its basically not practice at all which is what im getting at. your hand will not have that easily attained experience from tracing, its just mindless busywork

like go ask /ic/ about tracing they'll set u straight

and its not about thinking what you like thats a bad meme. if an artist does not desire to produce definitional perfection then they have failed and they will never get good. if u look at every great artist, yoh yoshinari is the guy who comes to mind for me, every single one of them is NEVER satisfied with their work. they are always looking to better themselves despite being masters at the craft themselves. that is peak meme form

anyways u r literally the most fuckin stubborn guy on this website other than doremiposter so im going to stop talking about this after this post lolol sorry not sorry

When i was little i went back and forth from tracing to freehand and they helped me, some friends got better by tracing at first too
your practising the same pressure and motion and it helps

the rest is your opinion

not only my opinion but the opinion of nearly all experienced artists

Attached: a;ohgw;oaeghawo;ieawoiegawegjac c.png (182x464, 53K)

probably gonna copy that guy's sketches

Attached: sqa.png (2000x2000, 440K)

what I said did not refute the point you made, and I didn't disagree with it

I said tracing may help someone just starting to learn

here you are so offended

triangles stop trying to start shit and go back to your loser discord

other than relying on it as a crutch i can't find anything rejecting tracing in practice

even some famous painters traced

trianglges why do you think i would get offended at your art naivete

a lot of beginners think tracing is fine so im used to explaining why its not that fine. like its funny a little that ur sticking with ur guns so hard but thats not really enraging

if theres anything im offended by its u trying to pull the umad card to try and win this lelo heck off with that sir pls

Attached: thumbse up.png (273x425, 27K)

you seem to be hell bent on making it right or wrong

Link. cite a reference denouncing it in practice for beginners.

>even some famous painters traced
if you're talking about that one russian artist (totally forgot her name) that was exposed as having traced / painted over other drawings for most of her artwork, then she got a massive amount of flak from the internet for that

i already told u to go to /ic/ and ask im not gonna flip through some art book just for u

ok im srs not responding anymore after this sorry to every1 else for all the other replies ahhhhhhhhhhh

the easiest way to get replies is to act like a fucking retard after all

so no evidence to back your claim other than "references anime imageboard"?
every search i made says tracing helps, i know it helped me and others too

you have your way, others have theirs

;.
